Chapter 92: The Twin Forbidden Relics
Director Frank’s stern expression softened into a faint smile as Li Nanke approached.
“Li Nanke, this is Minian Wistaria,” Director Frank introduced briefly. “She is a key member of the Wistaria family and has specially come to attend our team’s celebration banquet.”
The Wistaria family was one of the major shareholders of Gospel Biotechnology—a classic financial conglomerate whose influence permeated numerous fields, wielding formidable power.
Li Nanke extended his hand politely. “It’s an honor to meet you, Miss Minian.”
Minian smiled warmly, her voice sweet and magnetic as she shook his hand. “Hello, Mr. Li.”
As a ‘Flesh-type’ supernatural, Li Nanke immediately sensed that the woman before him possessed a body strength far beyond ordinary. This wasn’t the rigid enhancement brought by cybernetic prosthetics but a physical fortification cultivated through meditation and absorption of particle essence.
Flesh-type supernatural powers were often rated lower partly because the physical strength granted by advanced prosthetics could surpass that of some novice flesh-type supernaturals. Additionally, most types of supernatural abilities conferred some degree of bodily enhancement through particle essence absorption, though far weaker than the specialized strengthening of flesh-types.
After finishing the introduction and offering Li some praise, Director Frank turned and left. Li noticed Frank’s somewhat cold attitude toward Minian, as if he preferred not to get too involved.
“Mr. Li, I’ve heard you’re a genius researcher on the team,” Minian’s voice remained sweet, her eyes gleaming with curiosity and inquiry. “You’ve managed to unlock two forbidden artifacts within just over ten days of joining. I’m also very interested in forbidden artifacts, but unfortunately, I’m not skilled in research and haven’t become a researcher like you.”
Li Nanke thought wryly: If you’re curious, why not go to Director Frank instead of coming to me?
Minian carried no airs, seeming merely like a young lady genuinely fascinated by forbidden artifacts.
Maintaining a polite demeanor, they exchanged a few simple words before Director Frank announced the banquet had begun. They then exchanged contact information.
The banquet’s dishes were rich and luxurious. Having been drunk all day and barely eating, Li Nanke now stared at the food, swallowing hard before indulging heartily.
After satisfying his hunger, feeling his mood lighten, he found a quiet moment to leave the hall and step into the corridor for fresh air.
---
“Mr. Li, may I have a word?”
Li Nanke turned to see Minian approaching along the deserted corridor, her black evening gown flowing elegantly, the pale depth of her neckline strikingly alluring.
“What is it?” He furrowed his brow subtly, feeling a bit parched, with the restless stirrings of his beastly nature nudging at his reason.
Minian smiled gently. “Mr. Li, since no one else is here, I need not hold back… I want to ask a favor regarding a forbidden artifact.”
“Miss MinI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
