Chapter Two: The Realm of the Three Jade Spirits

Pan Yun withdrew her gaze, the already scant energy in her dantian reduced to a mere trace, barely enough to allow her some ease of movement, but insufficient to sustain even a single spell.
Stepping out of her home for the first time, and in such a near “bare” state of cultivation, left Pan Yun feeling deeply insecure.
She pondered silently for a moment before deliberately reaching out in her mind to the presence she sensed. “Who are you?”
A mechanical voice responded, “I am the system. Congratulations on being chosen by me. As long as you obey and cultivate diligently, I will help you ascend to the pinnacle of life.”
Pan Yun sneered inwardly, but showed no hint of it on her face or mind, and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Nothing at all. You only need to cultivate earnestly. First, find a secluded paradise rich in spiritual energy. Cultivating there will yield twice the result with half the effort.”
Lowering her eyes, Pan Yun said, “My family is in peril. I fear I cannot cultivate in peace. Can you help me rescue them? Once their crisis is resolved, I will go with you to find such a place to train.”
The mechanical voice was emotionless. “Cultivators must be pure and unattached. You have been weak and sickly since childhood; it shows you are not deeply bound to your family. You have already brought misfortune upon them once—consider that your repayment. Now you may sever ties and live peacefully apart.”
Seeing it unwilling to budge, the anger Pan Yun had been suppressing finally burst forth in her mind: “Screw your damn legs!”
“Why am I weak and sickly? It’s all because of you. I was born with memories, began cultivating in the womb, and my innate energy was completely refined by me. And the essence I produced? You damn well swallowed it all!”
“Don’t think I don’t know it’s you just because you’ve kept silent for eight years, pretending to be a system without even a proper name. You think I’m a fool? That I’d blindly obey just because you say so? Don’t forget, I was your researcher in my past life!”
The entity in her mind was momentarily stunned. When it realized it had been both deceived and insulted, it could not help but protest, “You knew I was a spiritual realm all along?”
Pan Yun frowned. “Spiritual realm? What spiritual realm? Aren’t you the White Jade Lotus Lamp?”
“Don’t call me that disgusting name. I am the Three Jade Spiritual Realm. You foolish humans see three jade pieces connected and call me a lamp? To hell with your ‘lamp’ nonsense.”
Pan Yun asked, “If something spiritual can be so crude, why call yourself a spiritual realm?”
Page 2/3
“You’ve grown up too. What’s crude about that?” It showed no intention to soften, mocking her coldly, “You humans have studied me for over ten years and still haven’t figured out what I’m truly for.”
Pan Yun replied, “Aren’t you just like a storage card? Lotus petals can store information. As far as I know, the National Museum and research institutes have uploaded all the information from their databases into you—astronomy, geography, encyclopedias, nothing is forgotten. Besides storing information, what else can you do? Oh, now you can store physical objects too.”
In her previous life, she lived in the 26th century. After the Fifth World War, Earth lay in ruins, its population decimated. Many heritages were lost amidst war and time. It was then that a miraculous energy appeared.
Not only did humans gain power and transform to survive in this harsh new world, but plants and animals also acquired this energy, exhibiting atavistic phenomena.
This regression was not a return to the 23rd or 21st centuries but a reversion to a wild, primeval state recorded in books, endowed with rare power. The world called it the Revival of Spiritual Energy.
She was born in the first generation of peace after the war. Her grandparents and parents had fought in the world wars and perished in subsequent conflicts against foreign entities. The state raised her.
Her talent lay in her heart; she could communicate with all living things and see the truth beneath illusions with her eyes—similar to the legendary Seven Orifices Exquisite Heart, though she had only five orifices and was far inferior.
Her teacher once said that if she cultivated diligently, she could one day develop the seven orifices, able to see through all illusions—making her the ideal candidate to study ancient treasures like the White Jade Lotus Lamp.
But before she could grow to seven orifices, the research institute exploded with a bang. Her body instantly turned to smoke, her soul swept by an entity into a rift in space-time caused by the blast, arriving in a parallel universe to be reborn.
She was born with memories intact, determined not to become entangled with her family in this world. At twenty years old, a university graduate student, she was not easily moved.
Yet... her parents and brothers in this world treated her so well, sobbing silently...
Her father, after office hours, would carefully lift her to ride on his neck. Her eldest brother saved his pocket money to buy various things for her. Her second brother would secretly carry her to the rooftop to watch the street outside and take the punishment when caught for her sake...
And her gentle, considerate mother—she had known only one as kind and tender as this mother in both her lives.
The love of a father, mother, and brothers—she had it all this time, but it was all too brief.
Thinking this made Pan Yun even more furious. Gritting her teeth, she hissed, “I don’t care if you’re a spiritual realm, a lamp, or a storage card. Because you’ve been stealing my spiritual energy for so long, ruining my cultivation, I couldn’t help my father when he was in trouble. You owe me compensation!”

“Even if I didn’t consume your energy, what could you do once you cultivated successfully? Under imperial authority, what power do you have?” The Three Jade Spiritual Realm said coldly. “Don’t you think everyone knows your father was framed? The emperor and Wang Zhen wanted him dead—how could he live? They wanted him to take the blame—how could he abandon that?”
It spoke with chilling detachment. “This is not the 26th century, not a society governed by law. Your personal abilities won’t help you much.”
Pan Yun’s chest heaved violently, but after a moment, she suppressed her anger and spoke calmly, “I don’t care what others think or do. I’m going to save my father and brother. Just say whether you’ll help or not.”
The Three Jade Spiritual Realm replied coldly, “I can’t.”
Pan Yun snorted bitterly and closed her eyes to regulate her breathing. This time, she did not refine essence or spiritual energy but entered meditation.
Her speed in entering meditation was rapid. In moments, her mind sank into her body, and she suddenly appeared in her dantian palace, face to face with a treasure resembling a lotus flower.
It was pure white, three jade petals joined together, each about the size of a palm, clustered like a lotus blossom.
The spiritual realm curled within the jade pieces stared blankly at Pan Yun’s sudden appearance.
Pan Yun looked at it with a half-smile and said, “Surprised?”
“I have cultivated diligently for eight years without any progress. The spiritual energy I refined would vanish once it passed through the dantian palace. Even a fool would realize there’s a problem there. Do you think I went eight years without any preparation?”
The Three Jade Spiritual Realm was speechless, its emotions complicated. This was its chosen person, yet her extraordinary talent both pleased and infuriated it.
