Chapter Twelve: Killing You Will Let Me Level Up
Page 1/3
Originally, this chapter was titled, "There Is an Urge That Killing You Will Make Me Stronger, But What You Don’t Know Is, You Feel the Same..." Hua Xiong had lost the title of Western Liang’s greatest warrior, but his pride compelled him to challenge again. Even if his opponent was Lü Bu, he dared to raise his blade without hesitation.
“Alas, I was once so obsessed with being the greatest warrior of Western Liang that I couldn’t see clearly. By the time I witnessed Lü Bu’s unmatched valor, it was already too late—my prime for advancement had passed. Now, I must risk my life to fight for it!” Hua Xiong’s eyes narrowed. He could feel the barrier before him; one more step, and he would qualify to challenge again!
No matter how fierce his opponent’s aura was, Hua Xiong laughed wildly, “Another one comes to die!”
“Enemy general beheaded!” Pan Feng shouted.
The aura, almost stronger than his own by a narrow margin, did not intimidate Hua Xiong. Only by facing life and death could one break through. He had passed his prime for advancement; to go further now, he had to grasp life and death on the battlefield!
“Die!” Hua Xiong roared, a burst of red light exploding from him as he struck heavily against Pan Feng’s great axe.
“Boom!” The clash of their horses created a huge crater where they met. Hua Xiong felt heat surge in his hand, his eyes blazing fiercely as he locked onto Pan Feng. He had that feeling again—the urge to kill and ascend!
Likewise, Pan Feng felt a lesser counterattack but sensed the same impulsion to kill and grow stronger after turning his horse around.
Both hearts burned fiercely. They understood what going one step further meant; their gazes became those of hunters eyeing prey. But who was hunter and who was prey—only the heavens knew.
“Boom!” Another thunderous crash followed by a sonic boom. They had exchanged dozens of blows in mere seconds. Hua Xiong was cut from left shoulder to right waist by Pan Feng’s axe wind. In these few seconds, he clearly felt his own growth. He was sure—if he killed Pan Feng, he would ascend!
“One strike to decide the victor!” Pan Feng said coldly. For some reason, his loyal steed seemed sluggish this time, but he didn’t care to investigate. One strike was all he needed to kill Hua Xiong and step into that godlike realm!
Hua Xiong said nothing, gripping his blade tightly, his body radiating an intense red glow that simmered and boiled.
“Kill!” Hua Xiong bellowed, charging at Pan Feng with the resolve to die, while Pan Feng sneered, ready to behead him.

At the very moment their weapons met, Pan Feng’s steadfast steed, normally so in sync, faltered—its legs gave way. Seizing the chance, Hua Xiong swiftly beheaded Pan Feng.
Turning his horse around, Hua Xiong looked coldly at the fallen Pan Feng. His aura began to boil and burn. Killing the opponent had indeed made him ascend. The massive wound on his chest and abdomen quickly scabbed over and new flesh grew.
Gradually, the fierce aura settled. The once mighty Hua Xiong appeared almost ordinary, yet when locking eyes with him, one felt as if staring into the eyes of a fierce tiger.
“Is this the power of a higher realm?” A clear blade aura shimmered on Hua Xiong’s great sword. With a swing, a massive fiery blade accompanied by a sonic boom soared towards the allied camp’s main tent.
“Boom.” A tremendous explosion sent the camp’s gate flying open.
“Listen, allied forces! I am Hua Xiong, vanguard under Chancellor Dong! Surrender at once, or I will slaughter every last one of you!” Hua Xiong took a deep breath and shouted towards the allied camp. This time, his voice carried for dozens of miles!
“Report!” When the messenger entered, everyone in the main tent knew the battle’s outcome. With Hua Xiong’s booming voice, all knew he had won.
“General Pan Feng was slain beneath his horse by Hua Xiong after a few exchanges. Then Hua Xiong shattered the camp gate with a single strike from a hundred meters away!” The messenger reported fearfully.
“What!” Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, the two Xiahou brothers, Yuan Shao, and others all stood up. They understood the magnitude of such power—destroying a gate from a hundred meters out was the pinnacle of martial prowess.
Yet Yuan Shao felt foolish. Had he known Hua Xiong was this fierce, he wouldn’t have drugged Pan Feng’s horse. Perhaps Pan Feng could have withstood more blows, injuring Hua Xiong in the process. Now that Pan Feng was dead, who could face such a master?
What Yuan Shao didn’t know was, had he not drugged the horse, they would now face Pan Feng with his internal energy fully unleashed.
After some murmuring, all understood Hua Xiong’s current level—undeniably among the world’s top warriors, capable of defeating tens of thousands alone when in a bad mood.
“Who dares face Hua Xiong in battle?” Yuan Shao shouted, but everyone kept their heads down, silent. He was an internal energy master of the highest order—charging forward was suicide!
“If only our generals Yan Liang and Wen Chou were here, we wouldn’t fear Hua Xiong!” Yuan Shao shouted angrily. Yet this was just talk; Yan Liang and Wen Chou were only on par with Pan Feng and Hua Xiong at best. Facing the present Hua Xiong would be a death sentence—they were destined to be mere supporting actors!

“Brother!” The two Xiahou brothers called out softly, but Cao Cao held them back. This was not the time to rush recklessly; Hua Xiong was fierce indeed, and a single mistake could be disastrous.
“Second Lord! Damn!” Chen Xi tried to hold back Guan Yu, but Guan Yu stood up.
“I am willing to go!” Guan Yu declared proudly.
Yuan Shao glanced at Liu Bei. Seeing Liu Bei nod, he was relieved; he had no grudge against Liu Bei, and if he sent someone to die, it shouldn’t be his fault. Since Liu Bei was willing, Yuan Shao was glad to have someone take the risk.
Cao Mengde stared at Guan Yu’s impressive beard with envy. He didn’t know how skilled Guan Yu was, but just by that beard, Cao Cao raised a cup in salute—perhaps a farewell toast.
“Please drink this cup before you go,” Cao Cao said with a smile.
“I shall drink it, then depart at once!” Guan Yu replied proudly.
Having spent time with Guan Yu, Chen Xi knew he wasn’t much of a talker and often offended others. But with that tone and expression, to others, he seemed full of pride. If he could cut down Hua Xiong afterward, no one would say a word—such pride was well earned. But if Hua Xiong cut him down, no amount of pride would save him from ridicule.
“Lord, will you come out and see? My second brother will surely defeat Hua Xiong!” Liu Bei said with a bow before heading out of the tent. Now a minor warlord of some renown, his words carried weight, and naturally, others followed, including Cao Cao, who carried a cup of wine.
Meanwhile, Guan Yu rode the great Western Liang steed, swaying leisurely towards the camp gate, unlike others who sped off as if breaking the sound barrier.
