Volume One, Chapter 123: Identity Exposed
Bo Xingzhou hung up the phone. The urgent news brought by Zhou Mucheng hit him like a bucket of ice water, instantly extinguishing the restlessness and loss of control that had been stirred up by the alcohol and the ambiguous atmosphere.
He stood up, his tall frame casting a shadow under the lights, his expression having already returned to its habitual coldness and detachment.
He looked at Fu Yuting, his tone strictly professional, showing no trace of the near-intimacy from moments before:
"What they say behind our backs is not that important. Just don't make a scene; as long as things look decent on the surface, that’s enough."
Shortly after, Luo Xia arrived before the gate of the hillside mansion. Scaling the courtyard wall, he moved silently in a stealth state until he reached the front door. Using his lock-picking skills, he opened the gate and slipped into the main hall.
"Sigh... why did I end up with such a foolish child? Oh well, I will forgive you this once." Wang Xidi had Da Gui dish up another bowl.
That day, Chen Lieyang and his group harvested three beehives in a row, totaling forty to fifty pounds of honey.
In the courtyard, only Lu Jingting, Rong Yan, and Nangong Lingyue remained. Nangong Lingyue looked at the pair of lovebirds for a moment, then finally turned and left. In an instant, only the two of them were left under the pear tree.
Even if it were as he said, so what? Perhaps he was just joking; he couldn't possibly have any other intentions.
Then, for reasons unknown, Gu Qianqian’s emotions suddenly gave way. She sat there, and tears began to stream down her face uncontrollably.
Everyone watched Mu Wanting’s technique in disbelief. It was something unheard of and unseen, and for a moment, the crowd was completely mesmerized.
After eating and drinking their fill, Fatty Ginseng and Maoqiu lay lazily on the ground to rest, while Ximen Zhuixue and Nie Yulou leaned against a large tree, watching Ren Qiong and Bai Yu spar.
Although Qin Suran had not known Feng Liumo for long, she understood his character to some extent.
"That... never mind." Zhang Nianzu thought about the long stretch of mountain road he had just walked. Without a car, he didn't know how long it would take. He had considered asking for a ride, but after seeing the wary gazes of the bodyguards, he dismissed the idea. Since he was doing a good deed, he shouldn't ask for anything in return.
"Don't scare me. Even though I'm ugly, I don't go around hurting people. You're right, I was with her three days ago, but it was a fair transaction! Aside from that, I didn't do anything!" Zhang Deshuai began to panic. If he didn't explain himself clearly, his looks wouldn't be enough to sustain him.
After questioning them one by one and bringing in witnesses for cross-examination to ensure they weren't lying, Chen Shao saw that the night had grown late. With most of the questions answered, he boarded his carriage and returned to the Prefect's Mansion.
Gao Shen hurriedly presented the paper in his hand. Emperor Yin took it, unfolded it, and his majestic, cold eyes narrowed.
Just as he was crossing the courtyard, he caught a glimpse of a dark figure flashing past and fleeing into the distance.
Taking advantage of the moment, she gritted her teeth and used all her strength to deliver a fierce kick to the man's most vulnerable point.
Sensing the change, the Lich stared intently into the cave, seemingly realizing what had happened.
Zhang Liang’s gaze sharpened. He had not expected the Poison God Valley to possess such unique Daoist arts. They were truly a force that both righteous and evil factions sought to recruit.
A-San said, "Perhaps he thinks this thing is too precious to speak of, so he just..." He couldn't finish his sentence. If Zhang Xiaoliang could donate bone marrow to save a stranger, what could he possibly be hiding from his own kin?
A man had appeared within the surveillance range. His build, height, and weight matched the suspect identified by Li San through the fingerprints found on the rear window. After comparison, they were essentially identical.
