Z’s facial muscles were slightly contorted as she stared at me, wearing a foolish grin. It was late at night, and the yellowish light in the hospital restroom struggled to fully illuminate the stall. Aside from the rhythmic dripping of water into the sink, the entire hospital was plunged into an eerie silence.

Z’s pants were pulled down to her calves. She sat on the toilet, her fair legs and lower body fully exposed to me. Yet, I had no mind to look around; Z’s expression was simply too terrifying. The first thought that flashed through my mind was: Is this really Z?

She seemed like a completely different person, nothing like her usual self. We locked eyes, and that strange, sinister arc on her lips never once faded. I frowned, instinctively reaching back to touch the nape of my neck; a chill had already taken hold of my spine.

My hand came away wet, and I realized a pipe on the ceiling of the restroom was leaking. I took a deep breath and was about to speak when Z’s shoulders suddenly began to tremble. She looked panicked, waving her hands at me as if warning me not to come closer.

Soon, however, I realized her gestures weren't directed at me. I shifted slightly to the side, and sure enough, she was gesturing at the space behind me. Even after I stepped aside, she didn't stop, her gaze fixed intently on the restroom wall.

Z grew increasingly terrified; she seemed to want to scream, but no sound came out. I scanned the room, and once I was certain we were alone, I stepped into the stall and placed a hand on her shoulder. She seemed not to notice me at all, her body continuing to shake.

After I gave her a few firm shakes, she finally reacted. She stood up abruptly, her pants falling to the floor, and I instinctively took a few steps back. Z gasped for air, standing before me without her pants, yet she made no move to cover herself—she was genuinely terrified.

I told her to get dressed and leave, then headed out myself. Her bodyguard, seeing me exit, asked anxiously what was wrong with her. I shook my head and said she was fine. A few seconds later, Z ran out, clearly still shaken. When we returned to the ward, she gripped my hand tightly.

Her bodyguard followed behind, and I could hear their hushed whispers.

Once we were back in the room and seated, Z finally let out a long breath. She asked if I had seen what happened. I shook my head and asked what she had seen. Still haunted, she recounted the events. When she woke up, I had been outside talking to Wang Yazhuo on the phone.

Finding me gone, Z had panicked, and she only calmed down after her bodyguard told her I had just stepped out for a cigarette. She had asked to be taken to the restroom, but the moment she entered the stall, she felt something was wrong. She claimed she saw the child that frequently appeared in her dreams—the same one with disheveled hair, whose gender was impossible to distinguish.

Z said the child walked slowly toward her. She wanted to scream but couldn't, only able to wave her hands. Before long, she saw me, and the child vanished. Her description of the time elapsed was very short—clearly a matter of only ten seconds or so—yet she had spent several minutes in that restroom.

She had no memory of sitting on the toilet talking to herself, nor could she recall the sinister smile she had shown me. When I told her how she had acted, her shoulders shuddered. She asked if the Kuman Thong had possessed her. Her behavior was indeed much like the legends of demonic possession.

Z told me that many people, including Charlie, had often mentioned her talking to herself, especially over the last few months. It had become increasingly severe. She had seen psychiatrists and prayed to deities, but nothing worked. The time when the talking began and gradually worsened coincided exactly with the one-year deadline mentioned by the Taoist, Wu Qingshan.

Z’s tears fell again; her eyes were already swollen from crying. She expressed deep regret, saying that if she had listened to Wu Qingshan from the start—returning the Kuman Thong exactly after one year instead of forcibly keeping it and allowing it to harbor resentment—perhaps none of this would have happened.

"It’s all my greed," Z sobbed, covering her face. "I relied on the Kuman Thong too much. Please, you have to save me!"

My heart skipped a beat. I grabbed Z’s wrist, startling her. She asked what I was doing, but after glancing at her hand, I let go. I patted her shoulder gently and told her I would leave at daybreak. I promised her she should get some rest and assured her I wouldn't leave the ward again.

Z felt a bit safer then and lay down on the other bed. Perhaps due to exhaustion, she fell asleep quickly, though it was a fitful slumber; her body kept twitching as if she were having nightmares. I didn't close my eyes, watching her all night until the sky began to brighten.

Charlie still hadn't woken up. I checked my watch, felt the time was right, and stood up.

The noise I made woke Z. She sat up and asked if I was leaving.

I nodded. The police would surely arrive soon to check on Charlie, and it wasn't appropriate for me to be here. If Tang Jia saw me again, it would likely cause trouble. Z hesitated for a moment, asking when I would return. I told her to call me after the police had left and to inform me immediately if Charlie woke up.

Z walked me to the door. Just before I opened it, she called out to me.

With her head lowered, she asked if I had seen everything in the restroom yesterday.

This time, she wasn't asking about the supernatural, but about her body. A thought suddenly crossed my mind. I turned to face her and let my gaze drift down to her lower body. Z stepped back, asking what I was looking at. I smiled slightly: "I saw everything. It was quite beautiful."

Z gritted her teeth but said nothing more.

After noting her reaction, I left the hospital. As I got into the car driven by Luo Feng, I saw several people in police uniforms entering the building, among them Tang Jia. I was relieved to have left in time; I really didn't want any contact with that woman.

Chen Fan followed behind her, looking submissive as he nodded and bowed to whatever Tang Jia was saying.

Once they were inside, I drove back to Luo Feng's place.

As soon as I entered, the Little Ghost lunged at me, asking where I had gone, looking so pitiful she was on the verge of tears.

Yet, one person was even more miserable: Luo Feng.

Luo Feng said I had finally returned, explaining that when the Little Ghost woke up and couldn't find me, she had made such a ruckus that his men tried to restrain her, only to have chunks of flesh bitten off their hands.

Luo Feng had managed to persuade her to wait patiently only by promising I would return soon. He said if I hadn't come back, he wouldn't have been able to handle her. I frowned, but before I could speak, the Little Ghost lowered her head, looking utterly pathetic.

When the Little Ghost was fierce, she was terrifying, but in appearance, she was more beautiful and adorable than any ordinary child.

I couldn't bring myself to scold her, so I just patted her head and told her not to bite people again. She grabbed my hand, refusing to let go, and promised she wouldn't.

That was just a small interlude. Once I sat down, I immediately told Luo Feng what I had seen at the hospital the night before.

Luo Feng listened, stunned, but the moment he spoke, I sensed the teasing in his tone.

"So you saw Z with nothing on. Well, how was it? Anything different from other women?" Luo Feng continued to mock.

I just smiled: "Z is indeed a bit different from other women."

Luo Feng grew interested and asked me how.
