Zhou Ci poured her a glass of wine. “Have a drink, relax a little.”

Gu Shen Shen’s brows knitted slightly, and she hesitated, unmoving.

The man then leisurely poured himself a glass, gently clinking his against hers. “The second trial for Feng Shiyao hasn’t even begun. Are you determined to make things difficult for me?”

At that, Gu Shen Shen drained the glass he’d poured for her in one swift motion.

Her capacity for alcohol was astonishing—most people couldn’t drink her under the table unless the liquor was tampered with.

As the wine slid down, she felt an unusual, fiery heat in her esophagus.

This didn’t taste like red wine—it was spirits.

She looked at Zhou Ci, unable to muster a smile. “What are you trying to do?”

“Is there any point in asking? Right now, you’re the fish on the chopping block, and I’m the knife. You have no room to retreat.” Zhou Ci’s tone was calm, but it carried a chilling indifference.

Gu Shen Shen didn’t know what he intended. Suddenly, her slender hand gripped his wrist tightly. “Don’t go too far—there was a time when we were good together…”

She didn’t even realize her eyes were already rimmed with red, as if the tears would fall any second.

But before she could finish, Zhou Ci’s image blurred before her eyes, then darkness claimed her.

As she lost consciousness, Zhou Ci caught her, holding her close. He gazed at her face at such close range, unrestrained, for a long while. Then he lifted her in his arms and carried her inside.

The next morning, Gu Shen Shen awoke with a splitting headache.

The unfamiliar room and scent brought last night’s events rushing back to her.

Climbing out of bed, she was shocked to find herself completely naked. Countless possibilities flashed through her mind.

Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and a man emerged, hair damp, dressed in a bathrobe.

Her heart pounded wildly as she glanced over, nervous, wondering if Zhou Ci, that pervert, had handed her over to some old man last night.

Yet, seeing Zhou Ci, she inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.

“You’re awake?” Zhou Ci settled onto the sofa, lighting a cigarette, his tone casual.

Gu Shen Shen asked, “Where are my clothes?”

He turned his head slowly, cigarette between his fingers. “Aren’t you going to ask what we did last night?”

She gave a cold laugh. “Anyone who didn’t know better might think you actually loved me. So desperate to sleep with me, as if two years ago wasn’t enough for you.”

Her words were sharp, brimming with anger.

If circumstances didn’t force her to bow her head now, she would have ruined his third leg.

“Mm, your figure’s too good—far more alluring than other women,” Zhou Ci replied, neither confirming nor denying.

Gu Shen Shen felt as though her lungs would burst with rage—never in her life had she been so ruthlessly manipulated by a man.

She grabbed a blanket, wrapped it around herself, and stepped off the bed. “Where are my clothes?”

Zhou Ci watched her, then crooked a finger at her.

She hesitated, but still walked over.

As expected, Zhou Ci knelt on one knee on the sofa and pulled her into his arms.

Pressed into the sofa, Gu Shen Shen instinctively turned her face away.

Zhou Ci’s gaze darkened, and he leaned in, voice displeased as he murmured in her ear, “Gu Shen Shen, my patience has its limits.”

“Haven’t you gotten what you wanted? What more are you dissatisfied with?”

Zhou Ci forced her face to meet his, making her look at him. “Heart unwilling, playing games with me—I can’t be satisfied with that.”

Gu Shen Shen seemed to compromise, her arms soft and boneless as she wrapped them around his neck, kissing his thin lips.

“Then let me please you once more.”
