Chapter 102: Who Is the Real Culprit?!
Leaving Mr. Wei's room, the group walked along the corridor toward the hovering elevator. As they stepped inside, Chen Wei still couldn't help but glance at Lin Huang.
"Now all clues are severed. What should we do?"
"Send me all these video segments. I need some time to think. If I require your assistance, I'll contact you again." Lin Huang pressed the button for the 7th floor. "If you discover anything else, contact me immediately."
The elevator quickly closed and descended. At the 7th floor, Lin Huang stepped out.
Chen Wei and his group arrived on the first floor. He hesitated briefly before instructing the security personnel behind him, "Return to the monitoring room and send those video clips to Mr. Lin. I'm going to see the captain."
"Captain, is it really necessary to alert the captain?" Upon hearing the order to notify the captain, the security guards' expressions turned somewhat strange.
"Someone has gone missing on this magic crystal spaceship. If this incident spreads, our ship will be shut down for a full investigation. If we fail to apprehend the real culprit, the security team will bear the greatest responsibility. At that point, we would not only lose our jobs but also face compensation. Although Mr. Lin appears young, he does not seem like an ordinary person. If we do not inform the captain now, once the matter escalates, it will be impossible to contain. Chen Wei understood the gravity of the situation and dared not slacken off—this was also the reason he had previously followed Lin Huang's every instruction."
"Understood." After hearing this, the group also grew tense and hurried toward the monitoring room.
Meanwhile, Chen Wei made his way straight to the cockpit.
In the cockpit, a woman around thirty wore a black slit long dress. Half-covered and half-exposed, it instead accentuated her figure even more seductively.
Outside the cockpit, although the door was not closed, Chen Wei still knocked.
The woman turned her head and flashed a sweet smile. "Captain, it's been a while since you've come to see me."
"Captain, something has happened on the ship." Chen Wei avoided her gaze, looking down to catch sight of the woman's exposed long leg, which was white and smooth as jade. His eyes continued downward, finally resting on the ground.
"Say what's wrong." The woman's voice remained gentle.
Chen Wei lowered his head and entered. Just a few steps in, a slit black long dress appeared within less than a meter. A pair of long legs, white and warm like jade, faintly visible through the dress's openings.
Just as Chen Wei's gaze shifted upward, it landed squarely on the two snow-white mounds faintly revealed on the woman's chest. He took a deep breath and simply closed his eyes.
"Captain, your heartbeat is quite rapid." The woman placed one hand on Chen Wei's chest.
Chen Wei felt a wave of warmth spread through his chest, and his lower part began to stir, as if ready to rise. Only then did he open his eyes and immediately step back a pace.
"Captain, don't jest. This time it's truly urgent."
"Seeing you so anxious, tell me—what's the matter?" The woman then withdrew her hand, glancing at the slight bulge in Chen Wei's lower body with the corner of her lips curling into a faint smile.
Chen Wei kept his gaze level, pretending not to notice. "It's like this: A little girl has gone missing on the ship. We've been searching for nearly an hour with no leads."
"When did she disappear?" the woman inquired.
"Shortly after 5:40 PM."
"Less than an hour and a half has passed. How can you be certain she's missing?" the woman asked with some doubt.
"The girl's brother reported her disappearance after 6 PM. We then checked the surveillance footage, and indeed, she vanished in a blind spot..." Only then did Chen Wei recount the full sequence of events.
After listening, the woman's brows furrowed slightly. "If the person is confirmed to have gone missing on our ship and we cannot identify the real culprit, this vessel will bear full responsibility. We would then have to pay the girl's brother a substantial compensation fee, and the entire ship would need to be sealed. At minimum, several months of inspections would be required to confirm there are no issues before it could be put back into service. Moreover, all personnel—including myself as captain and your security team—would undergo long-term company investigations. The situation would become exceedingly complicated. Therefore, we must absolutely locate the real culprit, no matter what."
"Tomorrow at 9:20 AM, the spaceship will dock in Dongxuan City. Per company regulations, the itinerary cannot be delayed by even a minute. We must find the culprit before the ship reaches Dongxuan City! All suspicious individuals, including the missing girl's brother, must be thoroughly investigated!"
"The girl's brother?" Chen Wei looked at his captain with some confusion.
"It's possible he orchestrated the disappearance himself. Killing his own sister for the enormous compensation isn't inconceivable. Furthermore, we cannot accurately confirm whether that girl is truly his sister." The woman added Lin Huang to the list of suspects.
"Understood. We'll do our utmost to investigate." Chen Wei, guided by the captain's words, found some truth in them and immediately included Lin Huang on the investigation list.
Of course, Lin Huang knew nothing of these events in the cockpit.
Not long after returning to his room, he received several video segments transmitted by the security personnel and immediately began to review them.
The first video he opened was the one in which Lin Xin ultimately disappeared.
Lin Huang directly activated his extreme vision. Starting from when Lin Xin appeared in the footage, walking toward the trash can to discard the garbage, he watched in reverse. He felt certain he had overlooked something—Lin Xin and that trash can could not have simply vanished.
After replaying the details two or three times, Lin Huang suddenly noticed an anomalous detail.
That little girl with twin ponytails, when she came to throw the trash, only her left middle finger bore an Emperor Heart Ring, while her right hand had none. But after discarding the garbage, Lin Huang caught sight of the extra ring on the right hand she casually swung when exiting the video frame.
After repeatedly playing back this detail several times, Lin Huang finally confirmed that the little girl's right hand had acquired an additional green ring.
However, her hand's movement made the freeze-frame blurry, and Lin Huang could never discern the ring's clear shape, only noting its green color.
He immediately dialed the communication number for Chen Wei, which he had just received.
Chen Wei was also preparing to seek out Lin Huang. Upon seeing the incoming call, he answered at once. Before he could speak, he heard Lin Huang's anxious voice.
"Captain Chen, I found a clue. Please examine the final video. That little girl Lili had no ring on her right hand when she threw the trash, but when she left, an additional ring appeared on her right middle finger. You should have technical personnel capable of processing this ring's image to make it clear."
Hearing this lead, Chen Wei immediately pulled up the video, zoomed in on the moment Lili threw the trash, and studied it closely. Indeed, only her left middle finger had an Emperor Heart Ring. But when she departed, half her right palm had accidentally appeared in the frame, clearly revealing a ring on her middle finger.
"Little Wang, process the image of this ring!" After pressing the freeze-frame, Chen Wei turned to the long-haired youth beside him, who specialized in the monitoring room.
The long-haired youth nodded. The Emperor Heart Ring projected a page, captured a screenshot of the frozen frame, and began processing it swiftly.
In less than a minute, a clear image appeared: a green gemstone ring.
"This ring looks somewhat familiar." Chen Wei's brows furrowed. He felt as if he had seen it before.
"Has it been processed?" Before the communicator could be turned off, Lin Huang's voice came through again.
"I'm sending it to you." Chen Wei immediately captured the image and transmitted it to Lin Huang.
At first glance, Lin Huang's eyes narrowed slightly. Of course, he recognized it—this green gemstone ring was precisely the one he had seen on Mr. Wei's hand earlier.
Although he still did not know the methods Mr. Wei and Lili had employed, Lin Huang had essentially confirmed that Wei was responsible.
"Mr. Wei..." Lin Huang spat out the three words, one by one, with murderous intent surging in his eyes.
