Author's Note on Official Publication

Monster Paradise Wine-Steeped Warhead 997 words 2026-03-30 10:18:12

To be honest, I feel quite nervous about the book's official launch.

I have always written as a part-time hobby, so I never worried much about the statistics, as I didn't rely on this for my livelihood. Choosing to write full-time brings the biggest challenge of all: whether the income will be enough to support myself. Before the official sales began, I truly had no idea.

Top-tier authors might have their copyright deals already signed before they even publish a book. As for ordinary authors like us, our income relies solely on subscriptions, and earning a living through subscriptions is grueling work. Take my previous book as an example: for a four-million-word novel, if a reader purchases every single chapter, the author actually receives less than one hundred yuan. Yet, those four million words represent at least a year or two of hard, dedicated labor.

But enough complaining; let’s get down to business.

"Monster Paradise" currently has over forty thousand followers, which is the best performance for any book I’ve written in my years in the industry. These numbers should be genuine, as I haven't even given out a single red packet for recommendation votes. These statistics are all thanks to you—thank you all.

As for the update schedule after the launch:

I will release five chapters on April 1st. I wanted to follow other authors and release ten chapters, but I only have one chapter in my buffer, and even if you held a gun to my head, I couldn't produce ten. I expect to have three chapters buffered by tonight, which I will release at midnight, and I will publish the remaining two as soon as I finish writing them during the day.

Starting April 2nd, there will be a guaranteed minimum of three chapters per day.

I have spent the last few days considering whether to set specific goals for extra chapters, but after much thought, I decided against it. I write this book quite slowly; even without writer's block, each chapter takes two to three hours to craft. Three chapters a day is within my capabilities. It is better to live within one's means; I won't dwell on things I cannot achieve.

Finally, I’ll add this: subscriptions are now my meal ticket. Whether I can pay my rent and keep myself fed depends entirely on you, my dear readers.

A subscription costs, at most, five cents per thousand words. A three-thousand-word chapter costs fifteen cents, and it is even cheaper if you have a VIP account. Even if I write three hundred thousand words a month, subscribing to everything would cost you at most fifteen yuan—the price of a single fast-food meal or a bowl of noodles. Therefore, I truly hope that those who enjoy this book will support the official release.

"Monster Paradise" is published first on Qidian. Readers using a computer can find my book there. Many friends prefer reading on their phones; to subscribe via mobile, simply download the Qidian Reading app. Not just my work, but the works of all Qidian authors can be found on that app. It is well worth having.

Well, that is all for now.

Finally, I wave and bow to all my readers before taking my leave. (Remember to subscribe!)
