Chapter 103: None Shall Prevail—Come and Face Me!
All five were specially trained individuals, and Chen Xiang’s composed demeanor made them cautious. Even if it were just one opponent, they dared not be careless; after all, a lion must use full strength to catch a rabbit.
In the sects of Biyun City, Nascent Soul stage cultivators could often serve as elders in each sect, but each sect also cultivated powerful teams.
These five formed such a team, hidden in the sect’s shadows. Their cultivation resources far exceeded those of elders who worked openly, allowing them to focus solely on improving their strength and playing their greatest role when the sect faced danger.
Hence, the five excelled in coordinated, combined attacks.
They launched their attacks on Chen Xiang from all directions in a cunning manner. If he were an ordinary Nascent Soul cultivator, death would be inevitable!
“Haha, just in time!”
Seeing the five charging forward, Chen Xiang wasted no words. He reached out, summoning the Coiling Dragon Staff into his hand.
Then, the Three Thousand Thunder Movements technique unfolded, and his figure vanished from sight in an instant.
“Be careful!”
The five were shocked; one shouted out.
But in the flash of lightning and fire, Chen Xiang suddenly appeared behind one of them. With the Coiling Dragon Staff cutting through the air, he struck fiercely at the man’s back.
“Bang!”
With a muffled thud, the guard was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing heavily into a large tree at the valley’s edge. The force snapped the tree, which then slammed into the rock wall behind it, embedding half its trunk into the stone.
“Number Three!”
The other four were terrified, their pupils shrinking as they quickly retreated.
Their gazes toward Chen Xiang grew filled with fear and shock. Even the young sect master stared at him in disbelief, mouth agape.
“Ding, congratulations to the host ‘Chen Xiang’ for killing a Nascent Soul cultivator, gaining 20,000 experience points and a Golden Core!”
The Nascent Soul cultivator died from a single strike by Chen Xiang, and his true cultivation level was revealed at the moment of attack.
“You... you concealed your true cultivation!” The young sect master looked at Chen Xiang in horror, disbelief in his voice.
Chen Xiang made no pretense, wearing an exaggerated fake smile as he addressed the five: “Yes, little fatty, how do you like that? Surprised? Unexpected?”
The five’s mouths twitched involuntarily. Surprise, my foot! Unexpected, yes.
But now was not the time to dwell on that. This man had concealed his cultivation; no wonder he was so calm. Judging by his third level Nascent Soul cultivation, their chances of victory were slim.
“Senior, this is all a misunderstanding. We are from Kunshan Sect...” one guard tried to bluff, hoping their sect’s name would intimidate Chen Xiang, but he was cut off.
“Stop! I know you’re from Kunshan Sect. So what? I’m in a bad mood today. If you run into me, there’s nothing I can do about it.” Chen Xiang said coolly.
The four guards’ faces darkened, unsure what to say.
“Kid, you talk big, but aren’t afraid of biting your tongue? I’ll tell you, you’re dead today! So what if you’re Nascent Soul stage? I’ve dealt with Nascent Soul cultivators before, but none of them exist anymore! You four, kill him! No survivors!” The young sect master’s face turned red with fury as he shouted, eyes blazing.
He had always been jealous of Chen Xiang’s youthful attainment of third level Nascent Soul, and now discovered Chen Xiang had concealed his cultivation, which was actually one full stage higher! Such a fact was unbearable to him.
The four guards broke out in cold sweat at his words. If they could beat Chen Xiang, would they need to be told so nicely?
Besides, hadn’t the elder and others helped solve the Nascent Soul cultivators before? Those cultivators had grudges against the sect. In truth, the sect had used excuses to eliminate them—not to avenge the young sect master!
One guard hurriedly said to Chen Xiang, “Senior, please don’t misunderstand. Our young sect master is unaware of the situation. We ask for your forgiveness.”
Another tried to persuade the young sect master to restrain himself, but hearing the guard’s words only infuriated him further. He roared, “Whose guards are you? What do you mean I don’t understand the situation? You’re dogs raised by Kunshan Sect! When I tell you to kill him, you must obey, not embarrass me here!”
The four guards blushed, trembling uncontrollably, unable to speak. One could imagine the fury they suppressed.
Chen Xiang smiled calmly, wondering if this would turn into a tragic drama of regicide.
Just then, an angry snort echoed from all directions.
“Hmph, brat, looks like you’ve been spoiled too much!”
“Whoosh!”
A sound of something breaking the air came, followed by a flash of red light. Between Chen Xiang and the five, an elderly man appeared. His hair was streaked with gray, dressed in a brocade red robe, his face kind and approachable, like a benevolent grandfather.
The four guards instantly showed fear, bowing respectfully. “We pay respects to the Great Elder!”
The young sect master was joyous, rushing to greet him. “Second Uncle! You’ve finally arrived.”
Then he glared fiercely at Chen Xiang, snarling, “Second Uncle, please kill this brat! He killed one of my guards!”
The elder remained expressionless. Having been watching the scene, he knew the third guard was dead. Without further ado, he slapped the young sect master across the face.
Dizzy, the young sect master staggered several steps before regaining balance. He looked at the elder with grievance. “Second Uncle, why did you hit me? I told you to kill that brat, not hit me!”
Even after being struck, he hadn’t forgotten his intention to kill Chen Xiang.
The elder did not answer, merely snorted coldly. “Hmph, lacking cultivation and talent but always causing trouble, yelling at your subordinates. Do you know how that makes them feel? Do you want everyone in the Prison Pavilion to rebel against you?”
“Second Uncle, they’re useless and speak ill of me behind my back. How is that my fault?” the young sect master complained, covering his face.
A flicker of disappointment crossed the elder’s eyes. He waved his hand. “Forget it. I won’t argue with you. Go back and let the sect master discipline you properly!”
The young sect master sighed in relief. The person he feared most in the sect was his second uncle. The sect master was his father, and as the only son, he was usually spoiled and rarely punished.
The elder turned to Chen Xiang, a gentle smile gracing his face. “Please forgive the intrusion, friend.”
Chen Xiang smiled faintly in return but said nothing.
Then the elder continued kindly, “Heh, I see you are young yet possess such cultivation—clearly a rare talent. But you just killed one of my men. Is there an explanation for that?”
Chen Xiang grinned playfully. “No explanation. If you’re not satisfied, come and fight!”
“To be continued...”
