Chapter 104: One Word—To Fight or Not to Fight?
Page 1/3
“Not convinced? Come and fight then? What a joke!”
The four guards all breathed easier to varying degrees. With the Grand Elder present, there was nothing to worry about.
“Hahaha, kid, are you out of your mind? Even if you’re a Nascent Soul cultivator, facing my second uncle means a one-way ticket to death! You’d better surrender obediently to avoid suffering!” The Young Sect Leader laughed arrogantly upon hearing Chen Xiang’s words.
Chen Xiang glanced at him briefly. This chubby fellow was truly an arrogant bully, barking loudly as soon as he saw his side was strong. How had he survived until now?
“Hmph, idiot!” The Grand Elder snorted coldly and scolded him.
Just now, he had witnessed Chen Xiang’s movement technique from the rear—the speed with which he eliminated the third elder in the blink of an eye. Even he could not match it. If others tried to run, he definitely couldn’t catch them. Now, this brat was spouting nonsense. If Chen Xiang didn’t confront him, wouldn’t that be a slap in his face?
“Fellow Daoist, they say you only truly meet someone after fighting. May I ask where you hail from? Perhaps there’s some connection to our Kunshan Sect,” the Grand Elder said with a harmless smile, ignoring the other’s provocation.
“A connection? Nonsense. One word: fight or not? Give me a straight answer—I’m quite busy!” Chen Xiang was utterly unappreciative and spoke arrogantly.
The Grand Elder could tell this was no good man. Besides, there was a beautiful lady waiting at the inn—he couldn’t keep her waiting too long!
Everyone else was speechless. Fight or not in one word? You’re clearly looking for trouble, aren’t you?
Would a simple “no” count?
The Grand Elder’s expression grew strange but he was not angered by Chen Xiang’s words. Calmly, he said, “Fellow Daoist, although your talent is impressive and you have reached the third layer of Nascent Soul, wouldn’t it be a pity to perish halfway?”
Chen Xiang burst into laughter, one hand behind his back as he smiled at the Grand Elder. “Oh ho, old man, you seem quite confident. Perfect. I love taking on those who think themselves exceptional. Come, let me play with you using just one hand first!”
What the…!
Everyone was stunned by his words!
The Grand Elder confident? And using only one hand as a warm-up? Damn, brother, if you’re that formidable, why not just fly to the heavens now?
The four guards and the Young Sect Leader were dumbfounded, staring at Chen Xiang, wondering where his ridiculous confidence came from.
They knew the Grand Elder well—he seemed warm and approachable, but when killing, he was more ruthless than slaughtering chickens! Years ago, he had reached the ninth layer of Nascent Soul cultivation. One more step and he would be at the peak, on the verge of breaking through to Deity Transformation! Who gave this third-layer Nascent Soul brat the courage to jeer in front of him? Fish in a barrel?
Indeed, the remark irritated the Grand Elder. Having served as Kunshan Sect’s Grand Elder for many years, few dared to be so arrogant before him. Now, a junior was even boasting about using one hand—his prestige felt somewhat diminished!

“Hmph, kid, there’s a saying—there’s always someone better out there. Though your talent is strong, many can easily destroy you!” The Grand Elder snorted coldly.
“Oh!” Chen Xiang responded casually with a single word.
This attitude was like a fuse set to ignite his anger. Now he was truly provoked.
The Grand Elder narrowed his eyes, calmly saying, “Very well, if you’re so confident you can contend with me, then I shall test your skills!”
“Oh, old man, why didn’t you say so earlier? My dragon staff is already starving for action!” Chen Xiang shivered and jabbed his Dragon-whirling Staff into the ground.
“Everyone step back!” The Grand Elder said calmly, then his figure suddenly vanished.
The four guards and the Young Sect Leader swiftly retreated beyond the valley.
“Hmm, good movement technique, old man!” Chen Xiang smiled lightly and lifted his head just as a red light shot fiercely toward him.
Chen Xiang raised the Dragon-whirling Staff and unleashed the Dog-beating Staff Technique along with the Three Thousand Thunder Moves. The red light pierced through his body instantly, but not a drop of blood flowed. Then, Chen Xiang’s figure slowly shifted, finally vanishing.
It was a mere afterimage!
The Grand Elder’s figure reappeared, standing just ahead of where the afterimage had disappeared. In his hand was a white, sickle-shaped hook, radiating a chilling aura.
“Fellow Daoist, you have excellent movement as well! May I ask what style you practice? Might I borrow it in secret?” The Grand Elder turned leisurely, addressing Chen Xiang in midair.
Chen Xiang’s expression grew slightly serious. He hadn’t expected this old man to be so strong. That last attack was probably even stronger than an average Nascent Soul Master at peak level—though he was only a little more cautious.
“Oh? You want my technique? Then come and take it yourself! If you can kill me, all my various Earth-grade techniques and martial arts will be yours,” Chen Xiang said with a faint smile.
“Earth-grade techniques and martial arts?” The Grand Elder’s eyes flashed brightly. If this were true, Kunshan Sect’s strength would greatly increase. Given time, surpassing the Li family might even be possible.
“Haha, then I won’t be polite!” Though uncertain if it was true, he would find out once he dealt with this brat.
The Grand Elder’s movement and martial arts were also impressive. The moment he unleashed them, he shot toward Chen Xiang explosively.
Chen Xiang didn’t say much. With his sharp eyesight, he could see the Grand Elder’s figure clearly. He performed the Dog-beating Staff Technique and suddenly jabbed behind him.
“Ding!”

A powerful force was blocked by the sickle. The Grand Elder’s body was forced to retreat some distance.
The Grand Elder looked at Chen Xiang with a solemn expression. He hadn’t expected his Shadow Escape to be broken, and that tremendous force was strange—he almost failed to block it. Had he not been battle-hardened, he would surely be lying on the ground now.
“Fellow Daoist, not only are your cultivation and skills impressive, but you are also a rare body cultivator?” The Grand Elder said gravely.
“Hey, old man, are you capable or not? I’ve already gone easy on you with one hand, yet you keep babbling nonsense! I don’t have time for this. Shall I go easy on you with one foot next?” Chen Xiang ignored the question and spoke impatiently.
The Grand Elder twitched at the corner of his mouth. He had attacked twice—once missed, once was countered. Though brief, both were lethal moves, and he had no more one-hit-kill techniques left.
Yet being looked down upon by a junior with far lower cultivation rank infuriated him greatly.
“Hmph, kid, you’d better pray for your own good!” The Grand Elder snorted coldly and shouted to the five onlookers behind him, “Kun Da, you four come over. Combine your attacks and hold him down for me!”
The five faces changed drastically, especially the Young Sect Leader, who looked as if he had seen a ghost.
Asking the four guards for help was basically admitting the Grand Elder couldn’t defeat this brat alone. Was he really that strong?
The four guards dared not disobey the Grand Elder’s order and, gritting their teeth, charged forward.
Their team was now down one member. They did have a four-person combined attack formation, but its power was somewhat reduced.
“Damn! Old fart, you’re cheating by calling for backup? Can’t handle me? If so, you should have said so earlier. I could’ve gone easy on you with a foot next!” Chen Xiang stared at the Grand Elder with a look of disbelief and mockery.
The Grand Elder’s face darkened but he ignored him.
The four guards flew to his side.
“This brat’s movement is too strange. Find an opportunity to hold him down briefly. I’ll unleash a secret technique to kill him in one strike!” The Grand Elder transmitted this in a whisper to the four.
The four nodded in understanding.
“To be continued...”
