Chapter Ninety-Four: Nothing More Than a Brief Interlude
"I said, no need!"
Li Hanwei was clearly growing impatient, her tone cold.
Though she held the position of Fourth Elder in the Li clan, she was obsessed with cultivation and lived in seclusion most of the time. Few outside the main family even knew her by sight.
This Feng family young master was nothing more than the son of one of their Li clan's dependent families. If her cultivation had not been sealed by Chen Xiang, she could have slapped him to death the instant he dared grab her just now.
But now her thoughts were entirely on Chen Xiang, and she could not use her spiritual power, so she could only endure it.
Feng Yushu was rejected once more, and anger flared in his heart. He had always run roughshod through Biyun City, and this was the first time a woman had turned him down.
Just now, on his way back to the Feng residence, he had caught a fleeting glimpse of Li Hanwei and been stunned as though struck by lightning.
He had never seen such a beautiful woman in his life, which was why he had approached her so courteously. But who would have thought this woman would be so ungrateful, rejecting him again and again, and from the very beginning speaking to him with such a bad tone? At this point, he no longer intended to treat her gently.
"Miss, I think you don't quite understand the situation. I'm inviting you for a cup of tea to catch up. Is that so hard to accept?" Feng Yushu straightened up, his tone no longer as mild as before.
His voice was loud, and the people around them all turned to look.
"Huh? Who angered Young Master Feng this time?"
"No, it was Young Master Feng who wanted to invite that woman for tea, but she refused."
"Oh, so that's what happened. Speaking of which, that woman really is gorgeous. What a pity."
"Mm, another one ruined by Young Master Feng. But this woman doesn't seem to understand the situation either. Young Master Feng has a great deal of power."
...
Hearing the murmurs, Li Hanwei frowned slightly. This time she had no intention of dealing with him at all; she simply turned and left.
Seeing that Li Hanwei was completely ignoring his threat, Feng Yushu's face darkened and anger rose in his chest. He had never had a good temper to begin with.
"Hmph, ungrateful!" Feng Yushu snorted coldly, and a thread of his aura shot toward Li Hanwei to suppress her.
He only used a sliver of pressure, after all. In his eyes, Li Hanwei was merely a powerless mortal, and if he was not careful and killed her by accident, that would be troublesome. He still needed to drag her back and warm his bed.
Chen Xiang did not step forward immediately either; he merely watched from the side. When he saw Feng Yushu trying to subdue Li Hanwei with pressure, he nearly laughed aloud.
He had only sealed Li Hanwei's cultivation, preventing her from using spiritual power. Her other abilities were still intact.
Since Chen Xiang could easily crush her, there was no need to worry about her playing tricks. Besides, he could tell that Li Hanwei had some approval of his plans against the Li clan. As for this Feng family young master, that was another matter entirely.
As expected, Feng Yushu's pressure landed on Li Hanwei without even making a ripple. But that only further angered her. Being harassed by a lecherous wastrel was one thing; now he even dared to use force on her? He was truly courting death!
Before she could say anything, Feng Yushu was already startled.
"Hm? What's going on?"
He realized that his pressure was actually useless against this woman. How could that be? And with so many people watching!
Thinking this, he increased the pressure and pushed it toward her again.
Li Hanwei's expression remained cold. With a wave of her hand, Feng Yushu's pressure vanished instantly into nothing.
She said icily, "Have you had enough?"
"What?" Feng Yushu was shocked.
Before he could say another word, Li Hanwei's divine sense at the seventh level of Nascent Soul shot toward him like a needle.
Feng Yushu's fifth-level Core Formation divine sense was like paper before it, pierced with ease. He was struck so hard that he spat a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground.
"You... pfft!" Feng Yushu pointed at Li Hanwei, trying to say something, but his injuries worsened and he coughed up another mouthful of blood.
Li Hanwei had intended to kill him with a single sword strike, but her spiritual power was unusable. At most, she could injure the divine sense of those whose cultivation was far below hers; she could not kill them.
"You... you actually dared to injure me?" Feng Yushu finally caught his breath and said, his eyes full of malice as he looked at Li Hanwei.
Li Hanwei did not even spare him a glance. She looked in Chen Xiang's direction once, then turned and left.
Feng Yushu watched her retreating figure with venom in his eyes. His servants hurried forward, anxious and solicitous.
"Young Master, are you all right?" asked a young servant at the Foundation Establishment stage as he helped Feng Yushu up.
Today Feng Yushu had merely gone to the Hundred Treasures Pavilion to pick out a gift for Old Madam Feng, so he had not brought any guards. Besides, this was still within the city; surely no one would dare harm him. Yet he had actually been struck in the divine sense and made to vomit blood right at his own doorstep. This was a grave offense. Once he returned to the Feng family, he would surely face severe punishment.
Barely steadied on his feet, Feng Yushu said nothing. He slapped the servant across the face, even using spiritual power. The servant, only at Foundation Establishment, was sent flying before crashing to the ground like a dead dog.
"You useless trash. Hurry and go back home to have them find out who that filthy woman is for me! Since she dared strike at me, I'll make her wish she were dead!" Feng Yushu roared, heedless of his image.
The servant ignored his injuries and scrambled to his feet at once. "Yes, yes, yes, I'll go right away!"
With that, he hurried back toward the main residence.
Seeing how vile Feng Yushu was, the surrounding cultivators unconsciously moved farther away. After all, none of them had the backing to offend this young lord.
Chen Xiang smiled faintly and shook his head before also heading in the direction where Li Hanwei had gone.
To him, this was nothing more than a small interruption. No matter how much trouble Feng Yushu caused, it would not hinder them. And if there was any obstacle, then clearing away this sort of scum from the world would not be a bad thing.
In these next few days, the Feng family would have someone from the Li clan coming by. It would be just right to go to the Li clan together with those two.
By a lake, Li Hanwei stood quietly at the shore, gazing at the rippling blue water, her eyes distant as though lost in memory.
Chen Xiang arrived silently beside her and smiled. "Haha, impressive, beauty. Someone like that keeps pestering you, and you still managed to hold back and merely damage his divine sense. Looks like you do have a kind heart."
The tranquil mood was broken by Chen Xiang. Li Hanwei gathered her thoughts and returned to her usual cold demeanor.
"If I couldn't use spiritual power, he would have died the moment he said his first disrespectful word," she said.
That was, in fact, the longest sentence she had spoken since Chen Xiang took her away.
Chen Xiang knew she was taking a jab at him, so he did not linger on the subject. Smiling, he said, "Then tell me, how strong is your Li clan? Or where is the Li clan located? That way I won't have to go searching for it myself."
Indeed, the Li clan's location was not in Biyun City. The Li clan here was merely a shell, open to outsiders for offerings, memorial rites, and similar affairs. The true ancestral lands of the Li clan were likely a place even outsiders could not find.
And apart from the Li clan's location and its present strength, Li Hanwei would answer almost anything Chen Xiang asked.
