“When I fall into slumber, if you encounter Zero Beast’s data in the same instance, or the same city, or the same area, this small light here will change from green to red…” The sentence had not yet finished when the voice from the watch faded away completely.

Following the direction of the voice, Beast One glanced over and discovered that inside the watch’s dial was a faint green light that remained lit, something he hadn’t noticed before.

“Origin Beast…” Beast One took out Zero Beast’s data, clutching it tightly in his palm, his face heavy with silence. In truth, he had no memory of Origin Beast before this. Most likely, because the fusion had succeeded, a new consciousness was born from the fused Origin Beast.

Not every Digimon was like the Lord of the Gods, who was formed from the fusion of Durandalmon and Brave Roadramon, and instead of their original minds disappearing, a third consciousness was born. In fact, the vast majority of Digimon, whether through joint evolution or fusion evolution, end up with only a single consciousness, and this new mind does not belong to either of the originals, but is a new existence entirely.

If, after fusion, a Digimon’s consciousness is still dominated by one of the pre-fusion minds, then it’s not joint or fusion evolution at all—it is simply fusion or synthesis, like in the sixth installment of a certain anime series.

Ultimately, Beast One felt no urge to attempt fusion again, especially since the watch had made it clear: only one fusion was allowed. Even if he wished to become Origin Beast, he would need to find a second set of Zero Beast data.

Finally, Beast One put away Zero Beast’s data and glanced around. He saw Agumon standing next to the bed, while by the mailbox, there was a conspicuous exclamation mark.

Beast One walked over and clicked on the exclamation mark. The first thing that caught his eye was an apology letter from the Digimon Corporation. To be honest, if anyone should be apologizing, it ought to have been Beast One himself. But since someone had already apologized on his behalf, it would be awkward for him to step forward now.

At the bottom of the apology letter, Beast One found that a treasure chest was included. According to the Digimon Corporation, this chest could contain anything, but its contents were not fixed. Each player could take three items from it, and whether the items were good or bad depended entirely on luck.

Beast One hadn’t expected the Digimon Corporation to play such a trick, but it didn’t matter. Who doesn’t enjoy a little gamble? Besides, the company had stated clearly that even the worst prize would be worth the price of a single attribute crystal.

After retrieving the treasure chest, Beast One reached in and pulled out a coin pouch. Inside were silver coins—ten thousand of them, roughly equivalent to a hundred gold coins. Even the most expensive attribute crystal couldn’t fetch a hundred gold, so his luck was quite decent.

Next, he reached in again and drew out a crystal. This crystal was not like the ones he and the others had used before—it was a piece of equipment.

Seraphimon’s Tear (Superior · Rare)

Type: Jewelry
Required Attributes: None
Seraphimon’s Lament: Can actively release a skill, granting an invincible state for thirty seconds against any attack with less than 5,000 attack power. Usable once per instance or battle.

Although Seraphimon’s Tear didn’t increase attack or defense, the [Seraphimon’s Lament] effect more than made up for any shortcomings. Invincibility against attacks below 5,000 meant that only fully maxed-out mature or perfect-level Digimon stood a chance of breaking through.

Given Beast One’s current statistics, even mature Digimon weren’t particularly powerful.

Digimon: Beast One
Type: Unknown
Attribute: Unknown
Level: Champion (Mature)
Attack: 1500
Defense: 1400
HP: 3200/3200
Overall Power: 555
Demon Lord’s Aura: Constantly shrouds Beast One, usable for attack or defense, and grants flight mode.
Demon Lord’s Aura (Flight Mode): Enables flight, but with minimal bonus.

Demon Lord’s Aura (Attack Mode): Increases Beast One’s attack by 30% to 60%.
Demon Lord’s Aura (Defense Mode): Increases defense by 30% to 60%, and grants immunity to special damage when attacked.
Sword of Destruction: Made of standard Digimetal, with piercing effect.

In short, all of Beast One’s power at the Champion stage lay in the Demon Lord’s Aura. Unlike the incomplete burst mode from his Rookie stage, this was the full version.

But even if the Aura’s attack bonus reached the full 60%, Beast One’s attack would only rise to 2,100. With the Iron Beast’s Gauntlets and Resentment stacking, it might just reach 2,300. Double that, and it’s only 4,600. And 4,600? That still can’t break through Seraphimon’s Tear’s invincible defense.

And that’s just Beast One. As for other Digimon, how many at this stage could even reach 2,000 attack with all their might? Or even with perfect optimization? Very, very few.

Beast One’s 1,500 attack already translated to an overall power of 555. What did this mean? The Champion Digimon’s max overall power was 1,000, so Beast One had already reached 55% of the full potential.

As attack increased, so did overall power. Of course, 555 overall power didn’t necessarily mean 1,500 attack—there could be more or less, depending on the Digimon.

Still, this suggested that a Champion Digimon’s peak unbuffed attack (not counting equipment) sat around 3,000—maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. And even that fell short of the invincibility threshold.

Only with maxed-out Champions plus all sorts of buffs could attack surpass 5,000.

After realizing this, Beast One didn’t dwell on it. With a flick of the wrist, he drew a third item from the treasure chest. Upon seeing it, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion...
