Chapter 21: Black Agumon X

Although it was not Agumon X, this was still a boss that possessed the X-Antibody. This was BlackAgumon X.

BlackAgumon X, a dinosaur-type Virus attribute, is an Ultimate-level Digimon with the special attack “BB Blast.” Like the ordinary Agumon X, it became a ferocious Digimon due to the influence of the X-Antibody. It is Agumon following its wild instincts, succumbing to its high attack power—a terrifying sight of savage, rampaging predation.

In fact, aside from the third boss, BlackAgumon X, there were also three BlackAgumon, three SnowAgumon S, and three BlackAgumon S in this area.

BlackAgumon, a reptile-type Virus attribute and a Champion-level Digimon, has the signature move “Baby Flame.” It’s actually an Agumon that awakened its wild instincts by evolving into the Virus attribute. With a violent temperament, its hunting prowess is as sharp as that of Vaccine-type Agumon.

In reality, even if they had no intention of joining the fray, it would have been useless. The moment they spotted BlackAgumon X, it had already noticed them as well.

Taking the initiative and establishing aggro might be preferable; if they hesitated and waited until after it attacked, they risked having one or two of their number taken out by a focused assault.

With a flash, Digimon One appeared right in front of BlackAgumon X. At the same time, BlackAgumon X released a fireball from its mouth, launching an attack.

With a boom, Beast One failed to dodge and was struck by the attack. Fortunately, the blow was not too strong—still within the limits of what Beast One could endure. The next moment, his figure was sent flying from the flames.

But even as he emerged, BlackAgumon X burst through the fire and delivered a powerful kick.

Beast One’s pupils contracted sharply as he hastily summoned a shield before him. Yet, in an instant, the shield was left covered in cracks by BlackAgumon X’s stomp.

It was fortunate that his “Guardian of the Angel” skill was infused into the shield; otherwise, that kick alone would have shattered it. Even so, the shield’s durability dropped to twelve points.

If durability fell to zero, the equipment would be destroyed. To avoid this, he had to ensure it survived at least until the end of the dungeon.

Regardless, the shield had blocked another attack. Beast One seized the opportunity and thrust his sword at BlackAgumon X.

At the same time, BlackAgumon X noticed the incoming strike, beat its wings, and tried to bat the sword aside.

But in that instant, a flash of light ran along Beast One’s blade. When it met BlackAgumon X’s claw, it sliced the claw clean off.

Just then, the skill “Mega Impact,” inherited from the Beetlemon Sword, was triggered. For a moment, Beast One’s attack power doubled, rising from 155 to 310.

“Mega Impact” has a one percent activation chance and can be triggered multiple times in a single battle—provided one can last that long.

With a howl, the now one-clawed BlackAgumon X not only lost a significant amount of health, but its combat effectiveness visibly waned.

In the next moment, BlackAgumon X appeared before Beast One, jaws gaping wide as it bit down on his shoulder. Beneath its razor-sharp teeth, the armor covering Beast One began to creak under the strain.

Just then, reinforcements arrived. The CoronaMon, shrouded in fire, crashed into BlackAgumon X from behind.

Since BlackAgumon X was focused entirely on tearing into Beast One, it did not sense the oncoming CoronaMon.

With a thunderous boom, BlackAgumon X and Beast One were separated. Beast One spun around, driving his sword straight into BlackAgumon X’s body. Outnumbered and outmatched, BlackAgumon X was finally brought down by Beast One’s hand.
