In truth, Jiang Ciyou had been feeling the same. She even felt, in a strange way, relieved.
So many things had happened lately that she had nearly slipped and lost herself completely.
She had nearly gone in blind and wanted to confess.
But in the end, Heaven had lent a hand.
At that dazed moment, she had stumbled into what happened today.
And she was also grateful that Bo Jinxiu had answered her himself.
“I’m not close with her” was a choice he made after weighing every risk and advantage.

Jiang Ciyou did not throw a childish tantrum and tear apart his act.
She even helped him.
She helped him break free from Xue Qin, who had been determined to stir up trouble, and helped him maintain his image in front of Miss Shen.
He would surely still be grateful to her.
Why had she done it?
For the way she had parted from Yan Feng had been so humiliating.
It was a kind of thing that could never happen again.

The next day, Jiang Ciyou and Tang Fei went to Capital TV again.
As expected, they ran into Bo Wanhua once more.
In the huge conference room, only the two women were present.

“Little Jiang, your behavior yesterday truly left me disappointed,” Bo Wanhua said.

She sat in a leather office chair, still in sharp and elegant business attire.
As she watched Jiang, she radiated a sense of superiority that pressed down on one’s whole being.
Jiang, calm and composed, replied, “Chairwoman, what was it you wanted to see? Me claiming to be Bo Jinxiu’s girlfriend and grabbing Miss Shen’s hair and scratching her face, or Miss Shen having an asthma attack from that bouquet of perfumed lilies and ending up in the hospital?”

A slight smile tugged at Bo Wanhua’s lips; her eyes seemed to hold a trace of admiration.
“Little Jiang, you’ve truly made me see you differently. Compared with Shen Qingqing, I prefer you. Perhaps you are the one who could marry into the Bo family.”

“I dare not imagine that,” Jiang said. “These words, coming from you now, must mean only that you want to use me as a pawn again. You dislike Shen Qingqing, and you want to use me to break apart Bo Jinxiu and Miss Shen. But I have no intention of being your pawn.”

Bo Wanhua’s glance grew piercing. “You should know there are many people willing to be my pawn.”
“I know. But I have no interest.”

“Yet my only brother has chosen you. I did not realize you and he had been together for more than three years.”
Jiang realized then that perhaps Bo Wanhua’s trip to the capital to observe and learn had not been random.
Her hand had long ago slipped silently into her life.

Jiang Ciyou fixed Bo Wanhua with a steady gaze.
The pressure of this woman’s aura was frightening.

“My relationship with Mr. Bo was a passing fling, a mutual convenience, a pursuit of pleasure. If the chairwoman wants to place this burden on me, it is certainly a waste of time.”

Jiang said openly, “Moreover, things between Mr. Bo and me ended completely last night.”

Bo Wanhua looked at her with a smile of appreciation. “I like your personality, but I do not like forcing people. If someday you are willing to enter this chess game, you are welcome to come back to me.”

Jiang smiled cheerfully and honestly. “I don’t think that day will come.”
After saying so, she left.
Bo Wanhua watched Jiang’s departing back, and a knowing smile curled at the corner of her mouth.
Then she picked up the phone and called someone. “Has the Rongtai-side acquisition agreement been drafted?”

That afternoon, Jiang asked Tang Fei for leave.
For the next two days, she would not return to Capital TV.
She did not want any further dealings with Bo Wanhua’s influence.
Fortunately, over those two days, Shen Nuo stayed with her all the time.

The two went to Imperial View Lounge to drink.
Imperial View was one of the most exclusive luxury nightlife clubs in the capital.
Shen Nuo said she had arranged for a few handsome male models for her.

Jiang leaned back in the booth and shot her a look. “Don’t fool around. Do you remember how I first got close to Bo Jinxiu? That model was the same one you found back then.”
Shen Nuo immediately recalled it. Yes—after Jiang married Yan Feng, Yan Feng had taken Xia Ling abroad.
To cheer Jiang up, she had taken her out to Blue Sea and had her drink there.
She had even found the handsomest model in Blue Sea to keep her company.
She never expected him to be a little prince.
Shen Nuo remarked, “The preferences of the rich are truly strange. They can actually enjoy being a ‘duck’.”

“You aren’t rich yourself?”
The Shen family was also a prestigious household in the capital, their group focused mainly on automobile manufacturing.
Shen Nuo had also spent years abroad for advanced study in car design.
She said with a laugh, “For a rich person, my taste is entirely normal. I simply like entertaining ducks.”

Without further comment, Shen Nuo called the club manager.
Not long after, four very handsome models stood before their booth.
These were all college students who worked there—some from a sports university, some from an academy of performing arts.
“Not the sort of men you’d call vulgar,” Shen Nuo said, hooking her arm around Jiang’s neck. “I only asked them here to drink and play games.”

Jiang looked at the young men in front of her.
They were indeed handsome, but their faces still carried a tender, inexperienced youthfulness.

Shen Nuo suddenly leaned close to Jiang’s ear.
“My cousin-sister is here tonight to meet a big Hollywood director. They say this was arranged through a young lord’s introduction. His car is already downstairs; they should come up any moment.”

Jiang’s eyes widened slightly.
No wonder when Shen Nuo arrived she had immediately chosen the most prominent booth.
It was the route everyone had to pass to go up to the private suites.
If Bo Jinxiu and Shen Qingqing came together, they would certainly run into each other there.
Jiang sighed inwardly.
Shen Nuo had always been this way since childhood: fiercely protective and quick to take revenge.
When she found out that Yan Feng and Xia Ling had both betrayed her, she was the first to rush in.
Jiang had slapped Xia Ling a few times, and Shen Nuo had knocked Yan Feng out with one punch so he suffered a concussion.
He spent half a month in the hospital.
The cost had been high.
It happened while they were still in school and drew a crowd, and she was severely disciplined by the school.
Yan Feng reported her for intentional assault and refused any settlement, and she was detained for several days.
In the end, it was Feng Yuping who stepped in and resolved everything.

Many times Jiang did not want Shen Nuo to step in for her.
It was one reason certain things were never told to Shen Nuo.

When people say “speak of the devil,” the devil appears.
There was suddenly a stir at the entrance.
Bo Jinxiu and Shen Qingqing walked in, surrounded by a crowd.
Today Shen Qingqing wore a pink princess dress and a pair of delicate white pointed shoes.
Jiang spotted at once the pink diamond necklace around Shen Qingqing’s neck.
It was the Sakura Heart Bo Jinxiu had given her last night.

Bo Jinxiu, in formalwear, stood by her side, his aura crisp and detached.
For some reason, beside Shen Qingqing he seemed even more steady than ever.
The rough, unruly manner he had shown when beside her was a completely different man.

Yet it could not be denied.
One was composed and seasoned by experience; the other was innocent and childlike.
One a princely scion, the other a pampered heiress of a great family.
An eight-year age gap—she looked like the sort one could hold in a palm and watch her grow.
A mature uncle and a loli, if one had to name it so.
No wonder Jiang Ciyou was moved by it herself.
