Chapter 89: Who Ruined Jiang Ciyou’s Innocence
Xia Ling collapsed directly onto the floor.
A tremendous bang resounded.
She felt the entire elevator shudder.
The wolf had slammed straight into the elevator doors.
Xia Ling’s whole body trembled.
Just a moment ago, the wolf was right outside, jaws gaping, baring its long, sharp fangs.
Had she been even a second slower, her neck would surely have been torn apart by the beast.
How could this be happening?
Never in her wildest dreams did Xia Ling imagine she would face something like this in her lifetime.
Wolf howls echoed outside the elevator, one after another.
It was as if the sound could tear through anything.
Xia Ling was frozen for a few seconds before she suddenly snapped back to her senses.
Call the police!
She could call the police.
Thankfully, her phone was still in her pocket.
She dialed 110, only to discover that all signals here were blocked.
Jiang Ciyou.
You’re ruthless.
What now? What can she do now?
Her eyes fixed upon the last message sent from her phone.
It was to Yan Feng.
Yan Feng would come, he would definitely come.
Because of Jiang Ciyou’s sudden invitation, Xia Ling knew things would come to a head today.
So earlier, she’d messaged Yan Feng.
Her intention had been for Yan Feng to witness Jiang Ciyou’s harshness towards her, and her own sincerity in admitting fault.
But before Yan Feng could arrive, this had happened.
Fear gripped her heart.
She was even more terrified that Yan Feng might not arrive in time.
The howling outside made her heart tremble with dread.
At that moment, the elevator’s display screen suddenly lit up.
Jiang Ciyou’s face appeared on it.
Judging from the background, Jiang Ciyou seemed to have returned to the surveillance room, still sitting leisurely in that chair.
Xia Ling, frantic, screamed at her, “Jiang Ciyou, are you insane?”
Jiang Ciyou smiled, casually running her fingers through her wavy hair.
Her smile was dazzling, enough to turn heads, but the chill in her eyes could not be disguised.
“Xia Ling, you’re not the only one capable of being ruthless. Everything you suffer today is exactly what you deserve.”
Xia Ling never imagined Jiang Ciyou could be so unhinged.
Was this the same radiant Jiang Ciyou she knew, one who shone like the sun?
Now she seemed more like a demon from the depths of hell.
Xia Ling immediately yielded. “Ciyou, have mercy. I was wrong. I’m pregnant—I’m terrified. Don’t play this kind of joke on me, please.”
She still held onto a sliver of hope.
Jiang Ciyou let out a cold laugh. “Xia Ling, you refused the easy way, so now you’ll face the hard.”
Jiang Ciyou stared at the screen, her tone calm but carrying overwhelming pressure.
“Who was it? Tell me—who violated me? You must know.”
Xia Ling fell to her knees, sobbing desperately. “I don’t know, I really don’t!”
“Xia Ling, I can open the elevator doors at any time.”
Xia Ling’s head shot up.
Of course—this place was fully automated.
Jiang Ciyou could control everything remotely.
Xia Ling heard the scraping of wolf claws raking against the elevator doors.
And now, there was more than one wolf outside.
Her heart leapt into her throat.
She shrank back in terror, cowering into the corner of the elevator.
Yan Feng, why aren’t you here yet?
Jiang Ciyou’s steady voice came again over the display.
“I’ll count to ten. If you still won’t speak, then… pray for yourself.”
“Ten!”
Xia Ling’s heart hammered violently, as if it would burst from her chest. She was frozen, pushed to the brink of terror.
“Nine!”
Suddenly lucid, Xia Ling’s mind raced as she began kowtowing to the screen, begging for mercy, but still stubbornly denying everything.
“Eight!”
“Seven!”
Seeing that her pleas had no effect on Jiang Ciyou, Xia Ling’s demeanor changed instantly—she began to curse her.
“Jiang Ciyou, how can you do this to me? How dare you? This is a crime! If you kill me, you’ll spend the rest of your life in prison!”
“Six!”
“Five!”
“Ciyou, please, let’s talk this through, okay? Calm down. We used to be such good friends. You shielded me from a knife; I took a ten-kilometer punishment for you. Have you forgotten all that?”
“Four!”
“Jiang Ciyou, I hate you! How could someone born with everything ever understand the pain of someone at the bottom? Your life is still perfect, you have everything, you haven’t lost anything—why must you keep tormenting someone who’s lost it all?”
“Three!”
“Ciyou, spare me, please. There’s something I’ve always wanted to tell you—”
“Two!”
“You don’t understand me at all. You shine so brightly, you have so many friends—so many it makes me jealous. I always wondered, if you were like me, with nothing at all, would you…?”
“One!”
Jiang Ciyou had finished counting.
Xia Ling heard the elevator doors begin to open.
She lunged forward, furiously mashing the close button.
But it was useless.
A crack had already appeared in the doors.
Two sharp claws forced their way inside, scraping and tearing.
Xia Ling’s vision was filled by those claws.
Her mind went blank.
As the doors were about to open fully, she suddenly screamed at the display.
“It was Scar Xiang! Scar Xiang raped you!”
Sure enough, as soon as she uttered the words, the elevator doors slid tightly shut once more.
Xia Ling collapsed to the floor, sobbing.
In the surveillance room, Jiang Ciyou’s gaze was fixed on Xia Ling.
Her body began to tremble uncontrollably.
Scar Xiang!
Memories surged back.
Scar Xiang’s real name was Wu Xiang.
He was Xia Ling’s neighbor.
In a place like Misty Rain Alley, all sorts of people mingled.
Scar Xiang was a few years older than Xia Ling. He fell in with gangs from a young age—a petty thug, violent and unrestrained.
Since Xia Ling started middle school, and began to blossom, he started harassing her.
Xia Ling avoided him like the plague, but no matter how she tried, Scar Xiang was always lurking nearby.
In high school, he even claimed to be her boyfriend, following her to school, causing scenes.
Back then, Xia Ling was shunned and despised by nearly the entire school.
Even the principal considered expelling her.
It was Jiang Ciyou who repeatedly stepped in to resolve her troubles.
Jiang Ciyou had severely beaten Scar Xiang several times, earning his lasting resentment.
One time after school, he came to pester Xia Ling again.
Jiang Ciyou stood up for her once more.
Scar Xiang pulled out a prohibited knife.
Knowing he couldn’t win against Jiang Ciyou, he vented his rage by lunging at Xia Ling with the blade.
Without hesitation, Jiang Ciyou threw herself in front of Xia Ling.
The knife drove deep into Jiang Ciyou’s shoulder.
To this day, a deep scar remains on Jiang Ciyou’s shoulder.
Afterwards, Scar Xiang was sent to prison for three years for intentional assault.
Remembering all this, Jiang Ciyou felt a dull ache in her shoulder where the scar remained.
The pain of the knife piercing bone seemed to surge through her body like a raging tide.
Sweat beaded on her back and forehead.
Yet in this moment, Jiang Ciyou clung to her last shred of composure.
Her voice was icy and terrifying: “Xia Ling, to save you from Scar Xiang, I nearly lost my life. In the end, you joined forces with him to destroy my innocence?”
