Chapter 94: The Girl Named Gently
Jiang Xiaoxiao was furious. Jiang Ciyou simply wanted to ruin her image in front of Bo Jinxi.
Jiang Xiaoxiao tried her best to salvage her reputation: “Your Highness, I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just a straightforward person—I truly can’t bear to see you deceived by my sister. She’s been married for years. Three years ago, the Jiang family formed a marriage alliance with the Yan family, that’s the absolute truth. It’s just that her husband is in love with someone else, and she’s been seeing other people outside too. Your Highness, don’t let yourself be fooled by her.”
In Jiang Xiaoxiao’s mind, Jiang Ciyou had seduced Bo Jinxi with her beauty. Besides, they hadn’t known each other for long. It was just a fleeting affair, each taking what they wanted. How could there be any real feelings?
Bo Jinxi’s gaze finally shifted away from Jiang Ciyou and landed on Jiang Xiaoxiao, now cold and indifferent. “Miss Jiang, as I recall, Ciyou has already severed ties with your family. So perhaps you shouldn’t keep calling her your sister—it makes it seem as if you’re trying to claim a connection.”
Jiang Xiaoxiao let out an incredulous laugh. How could he not hear the main point of her words? Besides, she was the legitimate daughter of the Jiang family. Why would she ever need to associate herself with a fake?
“Your Highness, Jiang Ciyou is fickle and unfaithful, with nothing but a pretty face. Haven’t you heard? The prettier a woman is, the better she is at lying.”
Jiang Xiaoxiao no longer cared for appearances. She had always been candid in front of Bo Jinxi, so there was nothing to hold back.
A flash of icy severity passed through Bo Jinxi’s eyes. He was just about to speak when Jiang Ciyou gently patted his back and said coolly, “Let me handle this.”
Jiang Ciyou took a step forward and seized Jiang Xiaoxiao’s chin, her wrist exerting a light pressure.
A sharp crack followed.
Jiang Xiaoxiao’s jaw… became dislocated.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. Just a moment ago, she had been relishing the pleasure of berating Jiang Ciyou. Suddenly, she found herself unable to utter a word, her chin throbbing with sharp pain. She tried to close her mouth, but it wouldn’t shut at all.
“Jiang…$%…%^# you…¥¥…% you^&*&…*()*&……”
Jiang Xiaoxiao trembled as she pointed at Jiang Ciyou, babbling incoherently, her words unintelligible. Saliva streamed uncontrollably from her lips.
Jiang Ciyou dusted off her hands. “You’d better get to a hospital. If it can’t be set back, don’t blame me.”
Terrified, Jiang Xiaoxiao scrambled into the elevator, leaving a trail of drool behind.
Bo Jinxi, witnessing the scene, was quite surprised. “Jiang Ciyou, just how many surprises do you have that I don’t know about?”
Jiang Ciyou smiled. “That’s a secret.”
She followed Bo Jinxi back to the CEO’s office.
Jiang Ciyou asked, “What did Jiang Xiaoxiao come to see you about?”
Bo Jinxi returned to his desk. “I was just about to tell you. Jiang Xiaoxiao’s filed an appeal with the appellate court. The retrial will be held in half a month.”
Jiang Ciyou had already guessed as much. She nodded. “With the new evidence, what are the odds of a different verdict?”
Bo Jinxi raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you trust me? The Bo Group has the best legal team in the world.”
Jiang Ciyou smiled. “Then, when the time comes, I’ll personally invite Yao Shulan to attend the hearing.”
Bo Jinxi looked at her, his gaze full of affection. “You little troublemaker.”
After discussing Jiang Xiaoxiao, Bo Jinxi suddenly remembered something. “What brings you here today?”
It was three in the afternoon. Jiang Ciyou should have been at the TV station. She’d never come to him at this hour before.
Jiang Ciyou walked over and sat directly on his lap, gently looping her arms around his neck and planting a kiss on his lips.
The gesture clearly delighted Bo Jinxi. His ears reddened, his heart soaring with joy, though he kept a façade of seriousness. “Miss Jiang, please have some self-respect.”
Jiang Ciyou hooked his chin with her finger. “You don’t like it?”
Bo Jinxi immediately surrendered, wrapping his arms around her waist. “I like it. I like it very much.”
And with that, his cool lips pressed to hers.
After a moment of intimacy, Bo Jinxi asked again, “Tell me, what do you want from me?”
She never came to him without reason. And today, even using her charms—it must be something big.
In truth, Jiang Ciyou had nothing pressing. Strangely enough, she’d come to confess her feelings.
“Bo Jinxi, I…”
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. The ringtone was unusual—not his usual one.
Bo Jinxi showed no intention of answering. “What’s wrong?”
But Jiang Ciyou simply took the phone and handed it to him. “It’s your call.”
Glancing at the screen, she saw the contact was labeled “Qingqing”—clearly a girl’s name, without a surname, just those two intimate syllables, like a nickname.
She handed the phone to Bo Jinxi and got off his lap. “You should take it.”
Bo Jinxi glanced at the display, then stepped out onto the office balcony to answer. It was the first time he had ever taken a call away from her.
A woman’s intuition told Jiang Ciyou that this Qingqing must have an unusual relationship with him.
Five minutes later, Bo Jinxi returned.
“So, what was it you wanted to say?” He looked entirely composed, offering no explanation for the call.
“Who is Qingqing?” Jiang Ciyou asked with a smile.
“A little niece from the family. She’s gotten into some trouble and came to me for help.”
Jiang Ciyou nodded. So she had overthought it.
Bo Jinxi pulled her back into his arms. “You still haven’t told me why you came today.”
He didn’t believe she would come for no reason.
Yet, after the interruption, Jiang Ciyou found it hard to say those tender words. Still, she smiled and kissed his cheek. “I’ll tell you tonight.”
But Bo Jinxi’s expression turned apologetic. “I have to return to the capital for a few days.”
Surprised, Jiang Ciyou asked, “So soon?”
A trace of coldness flickered in his eyes. “There’s an urgent matter I need to handle.”
He looked at her again. “Why don’t you come with me? You haven’t been sleeping well lately—think of it as a little getaway.”
Jiang Ciyou shook her head. “I just took three days off from the station. I can’t ask for more so soon. Go ahead, I’ll wait for you.”
Bo Jinxi didn’t insist.
Jiang Ciyou soon returned to the TV station. On the way back, she kept mulling over Bo Jinxi’s words. The urgent business he mentioned must have something to do with that niece, Qingqing. It must be something serious.
That evening, after finishing the news broadcast and preparing to leave, Tang Fei suddenly found her.
“Ciyou, go pack your things. Tomorrow we’re going to Jingtai for an exchange program. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and you were the first person I thought of for the entire station.”
