Su Dao’an reserved a private room at the Emgrand Hotel, and Zhou Zhengqian took the initiative to invite Wang Yongye out for dinner.

The private room was spacious and luxurious. No dishes had been served yet; only a few bottles of fine wine were set on the table.

Su Dao’an had arrived early and brought Lu Feng along, waiting for Zhou Zhengqian and Wang Yongye to arrive.

“Do we really need to lower ourselves this much?” Lu Feng’s temper wasn’t as mild as Su Dao’an’s.

Su Dao’an sighed, “You haven’t been exposed to the outside world for long. You don’t yet understand the harshness of society. If I had been as reckless as you back then, I’d probably be dead in some gutter by now. There wouldn’t be a Yun’an today, nor would I have been able to raise Xiaoyu and Xiaoqing.”

Although Lu Feng didn’t know exactly what Su Dao’an had been through, he could imagine that struggling to make a living was certainly not easy.

“A real man knows when to bend and when to stretch. When it’s time to be firm, I will make these people regret what they’ve done,” Su Dao’an said with a dark expression.

“That kind of flexibility is for turtles,” Lu Feng remarked.

“Exactly because turtles can bend and stretch, they live long,” Su Dao’an replied.

...

It wasn’t long before Zhou Zhengqian arrived first, accompanied by his secretary. After settling in, the secretary left.

“Mr. Zhou, thank you for your trouble,” Su Dao’an said politely.

“Boss Su, no need for formalities. It’s just a meal,” Zhou Zhengqian replied with a smile.

After speaking, Zhou Zhengqian looked at Lu Feng and teased, “I heard Dr. Lu got into another fight. It hasn’t been long since the last time he fought a police officer. That’s not good—too hot-headed.”

Su Dao’an quickly defused the situation, “Xiaofeng is a bit young and fiery. He just can’t stand some people and some things, so he acts impulsively.”

At that moment, a loud voice came from outside the door: “Can’t stand some people and some things, huh? Hmph!”

Following the voice, a middle-aged man in his fifties, bald on top with a large belly, entered. He waved the secretary away and pulled a chair over to sit down without waiting for anyone.

Su Dao’an had wanted to stand and help him pull out a chair, but seeing he had already sat down, he awkwardly remained standing.

Zhou Zhengqian chuckled and said, “Let me introduce you. This is Mr. Wang Yongye, this is Boss Su, chairman of Yun’an, and this is Dr. Lu. Today, I invited everyone out mainly to sit down and communicate, to build some rapport.”

“Old Zhou, no need to be so slick. If it’s a negotiation, just negotiate. I don’t like beating around the bush. If you’re in the wrong, admit it honestly with a toast, and I’ll let it slide,” Wang Yongye said loudly, leaning back in his chair. His tone was a bit aggressive.

“No rush, no rush. Let’s serve the dishes first,” Zhou Zhengqian waved to the waiter to bring the food.

“Yes, yes, admitting fault with a toast is appropriate...” Su Dao’an nodded.

But Lu Feng cut in, “The person who should admit fault isn’t here today.”

Wang Yongye snorted and tapped his temple, “Young man, think before you speak.”

Seeing the atmosphere tense and on the verge of conflict, Zhou Zhengqian quickly intervened, “Young people can be impulsive. Old Wang, you’re getting on in years; be more composed.”

Wang Yongye glanced at Zhou Zhengqian and sneered, “If it were your son who got beaten up in the hospital, I’d like to see if you could stay calm.”

This hit a nerve—not because of the beating, but because of the mention of “son.”

Zhou Zhengqian did not have a son due to past policies; he only had a daughter. Whether Wang Yongye said it deliberately or not, Zhou Zhengqian pretended not to hear and kept smiling.

“Old Wang, here’s the thing. Boss Su asked me to invite you out mainly to express an apology for the young master’s sake,” Zhou Zhengqian said earnestly.

“So it’s an apology, huh?” Wang Yongye immediately defined the nature of this conversation.

Zhou Zhengqian cleared his throat, feeling a bit embarrassed by Wang Yongye’s tough stance.

Su Dao’an quickly added, “Yes, it’s an apology.”

“All right, I’ll say this upfront—reconciliation is possible. But the other day, my son was attacked in the hospital. I don’t care who did it. If anything happens to my son, I will come after you,” Wang Yongye warned, pointing at Su Dao’an and Lu Feng.

Since entering, Wang Yongye had maintained a lofty attitude. Lu Feng had held back for a long time but finally couldn’t keep quiet.

“What kind of person is your son? You don’t know? He got slashed by enemies, and it’s all my fault?” Lu Feng snapped.

Wang Yongye immediately exploded, slamming his palm on the table, “What do you mean? Do you want to spend some time behind bars? Your record isn’t clean either. I know all about your assault on the police!”

“Cough, cough...” Zhou Zhengqian coughed and interrupted, “Let’s not spoil the atmosphere. Let’s talk it out calmly.”

Su Dao’an quickly held Lu Feng’s hand, whispering, “Don’t lose your temper... don’t lose your temper...”

“Hmph! I’ve hired retired special forces as bodyguards. Nobody’s touching a single finger of my son’s now. I’m losing interest in this meal. If you want to apologize with a toast, get on with it—I’m bearing with it. But if you want to go against me, I’m ready. Just afraid you don’t have the guts!” Wang Yongye snorted coldly.

“Right, right, I’ll toast Mr. Wang first,” Su Dao’an said, pouring a glass of white liquor and preparing to toast.

Lu Feng was restless. Su Dao’an quickly held his hand and whispered, “Patience brings peace. Hold on a little longer.”

After calming Lu Feng, Su Dao’an stepped forward to toast Wang Yongye. “Young people act impulsively. It’s just a small scuffle. Let’s drink this and put it behind us.”

A mocking smile crossed Wang Yongye’s face. In his eyes, Su Dao’an was just a businessman—somewhat wealthy but without power or influence.

In a world ruled by officials, people fear wealth without backing. Having money without a support system is like waiting to be slaughtered.

When that slaughter happens depends on the will of the executioner and when the pig is the fattest.

Yun’an was a fat pig, still getting fatter, and so far, people had only been eyeing it but had not struck.

Su Dao’an had clearly seen this situation and was eager to find a powerful patron, which was why he sent Lu Feng to treat Old Master Zhou’s illness.

Suppressing his anger, Su Dao’an extended the wine glass toward Wang Yongye.

Wang Yongye looked at him and said, “Are you just going to toast standing up?”

Su Dao’an was taken aback, his expression darkening. Wang Yongye’s implication was clear—he wanted Su Dao’an to kneel while toasting.

Zhou Zhengqian couldn’t bear the scene and intervened, “Old Wang, no need for that. Just do me a favor and drink. Once this is done, let’s put it behind us.”

“Fine! For old Zhou’s sake, I won’t make things difficult. But you’re not the injured party; you have no right to toast. The person who should admit fault should come and toast,” Wang Yongye still refused to drink.

Su Dao’an was in a bind. He knew Wang Yongye wanted Lu Feng to toast, but he also knew Lu Feng’s temper would never allow it.

Just as the atmosphere grew tense, Lu Feng stood up, walked to Su Dao’an’s side, took the wine glass, raised it, and slowly poured it onto the floor.

“Toasting? You can’t handle it!” he said.
