Chapter 94: Healing and Assault
“What happened?” Su Muyu sensed something was amiss.
“Nothing, I’m about to perform the Golden Needle Barrier Removal for this child. Why don’t you wait in your father’s office for a while? I’ll take you upstairs,” Lu Feng said, grabbing Su Muyu’s arm and trying to lead her out.
“Wait!” Su Muyu refused to leave and pressed, “Golden Needle Barrier Removal? I want to watch, is that okay?”
“It might be a bit dangerous here. You should wait in your father’s office,” Lu Feng declined.
“Is it because I haven’t formally apprenticed yet, so I can’t watch?” Su Muyu asked, disappointed.
“No, that’s not it,” Lu Feng struggled to explain.
“Then did something happen? You’re not telling me, which makes me even more worried,” Su Muyu said, her concern growing.
Xia Yubing just wanted Lu Feng to quickly treat her brother’s eyes, so she said directly, “An assassin came to kill him. Are you scared? If you are, leave now!”
“What?” Su Muyu’s mouth dropped open.
“Don’t shout. Your father knows about this too. It’s nothing major, don’t worry,” Lu Feng reassured her.
“Should we call the police?” Su Muyu asked, wringing her hands.
Xia Yubing laughed lightly, “It’s useless. Assassins never leave evidence. There are only two outcomes: success or failure.”
“Then what should we do?” Su Muyu looked at Lu Feng, worried.
Lu Feng had originally planned to treat Xia Keming’s eyes, but hadn’t expected to encounter an assassin at such a time.
Xia Yubing snorted, “Forget it! I’ll deal with the assassin. You stay here and treat my brother’s eyes.”
After saying this, Xia Yubing paused, glanced at her brother, then turned to Lu Feng and asked, “Are you sure you can cure him?”
“Don’t worry, it’s only a minor operation,” Lu Feng nodded.
“Alright! I’ll deal with the assassin. You lock the door,” Xia Yubing said, giving her brother one last look before stepping out.
Seeing Xia Yubing leave, Lu Feng looked at Su Muyu and said, “Alright, you can assist me.”
“Okay!” Su Muyu agreed immediately.
Earlier, during the pulse diagnosis, Lu Feng hadn’t been able to focus because Xia Yubing had mentioned the assassin outside. Now, with things quiet, he resumed diagnosing Xia Keming’s pulse.
Afterward, Lu Feng examined his eyes, then began preparing for the Golden Needle Barrier Removal.
Noticing Su Muyu’s earnest gaze, Lu Feng explained, “There are eight key points to the Golden Needle Barrier Removal: discerning the opportunity, awakening the spirit, piercing the belly, probing the depths, disturbing the sea, drawing the curtain, forming the perfect mirror, and completing the wall…”
…
Xia Yubing left Lu Feng’s clinic and walked down the corridor, speculating about the assassin’s possible plan and searching for any clues.
No matter what method the assassin chose to eliminate the target, one prerequisite remained: proximity.
To get close to Lu Feng, one could pose as a client or as a staff member or physician at Yun’an.
When Xia Yubing had seen the foreigner at the reception earlier, he hadn’t scheduled an appointment with Lu Feng, so it was unlikely he was posing as a client.
Xia Yubing pushed open a room, glanced inside, and found it was an employee lounge, with several white uniforms hanging up.
At first glance, nothing seemed amiss. She was about to close the door, but as she turned, she noticed something odd: the number of shirts and trousers on the rack didn’t match.
She immediately entered, took a closer look, and found two uniform shirts but three pairs of trousers.
Yun’an’s staff were quite professional, rarely wearing only the top with casual pants.
Xia Yubing quickly deduced that the foreigner might have dressed up as a Yun’an employee.
Though Yun’an was a traditional medicine wellness center, it employed foreign staff mainly to serve international clients and act as translators—since most of Yun’an’s physicians didn’t speak English, and many foreign guests enjoyed trying traditional remedies and medicinal cuisine.
Realizing the assassin was likely disguised as a Yun’an employee, Xia Yubing hurried through the corridor, searching for suspicious figures.
…
As Lu Feng was performing the Golden Needle Barrier Removal, the clinic door was suddenly knocked.
Thump, thump, thump…
“Who is it?” Su Muyu asked, a little anxious.
“Dr. Lu, sorry to bother you. There was an issue with the filiform needles you received today—they need to be re-sterilized. I’ve brought you new ones,” came a male voice from outside.
Su Muyu was taken aback. Yun’an was extremely strict about hygiene.
“How could that happen?” Su Muyu frowned.
“Sorry, the new employee isn’t familiar with the sterilization equipment. I hope these new needles won’t disrupt your work,” the man replied.
Su Muyu glanced back at Lu Feng, “What should we do? Should we open the door?”
Lu Feng was already in the middle of the operation. He shook his head, “Don’t get distracted, keep going!”
“Oh…” Su Muyu responded, ignoring the man outside.
Thump, thump, thump!
The man continued knocking, harder this time.
“Dr. Lu, are you there?”
Thump! Thump! Thump!
After three knocks, the man grew impatient and fell silent.
Suddenly!
Bang!
A loud crash—the door was kicked open.
Ah!
Su Muyu jumped in fright and looked toward the entrance.
A foreigner wearing a Yun’an employee uniform strode in, gripping a combat knife in a reverse hold.
Seeing Lu Feng in the midst of surgery, Su Muyu quickly stepped forward, arms spread wide to shield him, shouting, “What are you doing!”
The foreigner shoved Su Muyu aside and raised the knife, aiming for Lu Feng’s heart.
Just then, Xia Yubing burst in, executing a spinning kick toward the foreigner’s head.
The foreigner ducked to avoid the kick. As he tried to attack again, Xia Yubing launched a frenzied assault, targeting his vital points, giving him no chance to strike.
Glancing at her brother undergoing surgery, Xia Yubing feared the assassin might jeopardize the procedure, so she fought without restraint, her feet flashing as she kicked the assassin’s body, producing dull thuds.
When the combat knife was kicked away, the assassin realized brute force wouldn’t work against Xia Yubing, so he opted to flee.
Xia Yubing chased after him and drove a medicinal spatula into his back.
Yun’an’s security had been reinforced. This time, the foreign assassin kicked the door open, making too much noise. As he fled, the security guards quickly surrounded him.
Xia Yubing caught up, kicked him down, and pinned him to the ground.
…
The Golden Needle Barrier Removal completed, Lu Feng stepped out of the clinic.
The foreign assassin had been subdued. Su Dao’an hurried down, first checking Su Muyu and then Lu Feng, relieved to find neither injured.
“How should we handle this man? Should we send him to the police?” Su Dao’an asked, frowning at the foreign assassin and seeking Lu Feng’s opinion.
Xia Yubing interrupted, “Sending him to the police is useless. If my guess is correct, he probably entered the country just days ago. Without evidence, the most he’d be charged with is attempted assault. Once his lawyer appears, he’ll just be extradited.”
