Han and Kevin
At this moment, Kevin was covered in wounds, his injuries appalling to behold. Shivering, Han reached out to undo Kevin’s restraints, his hands trembling uncontrollably. All of this was his own doing—he had actually hurt him.
The skin on Kevin’s hands was chafed raw, dried blood crusted over the wounds. Han gazed at these injuries, his heart wracked with pain as though it were torn apart. Damn it! He truly deserved to suffer.
Kevin slowly opened his eyes, seeing Han’s face filled with remorse. With a weak voice, he said, “You don’t have to be like this. You were drugged. The most important thing now is to find out who did it.” He struggled to sit up, nearly collapsing as he got out of bed.
He almost fell, but Han, quick as ever, caught him. The two leaned close together, and Kevin’s wounds were touched, making him grimace in pain. Han, seeing this, asked anxiously, “Are you all right? I’ll take you to the hospital!”
He scooped Kevin up in his arms, but Kevin, his face flushed, protested angrily, “Are you kidding? There’s no need to go to the hospital for something like this. I want to go to the bathroom—now, immediately!”
Han looked at him, surprised. He had thought Kevin would never forgive him, yet here was this dramatic scene. Did this guy even understand what danger meant? Han felt he was on the verge of collapse, but helplessly carried him to the bathroom and set him gently in the bathtub.
He went to the side to run the water. Kevin, his head bowed, looked at the tub and said to Han, “You can go now. I’ll manage on my own.”
Han’s hand paused at the faucet, and he stiffly turned to look at Kevin. So it was true—Kevin couldn’t forgive him. Seeing Han unmoving, Kevin turned to check, but Han showed no sign of leaving. A tremor of fear ran through Kevin’s heart; after all, everything that happened last night had truly frightened him. He liked Han—a lot. In fact, he loved him. But Han belonged to a different world, so he didn’t dare hope Han could feel the same.
He quietly closed his eyes, leaning against the tub. The bathroom, though not as grand as the Shangguan estate, still offered a sense of comfort and luxury. Beautiful decorative plants stood beside the large bathtub, their presence soothing and restorative.
Han looked at Kevin and let his gaze drop, powerless. In a low voice, he said, “Take care of yourself. If you need anything, call for me. I’ll be just outside.” He turned and left, closing the bathroom door behind him.
The moment the door shut, Kevin slid slowly into the tub, letting the warm water wash over and submerge him. He lay there without concern; it was all over now. Han would surely stay away from him after this. He would, wouldn’t he? Kevin closed his eyes, exhausted, and drifted into sleep.
Outside, Han waited for a long time, but heard nothing from the bathroom. Worried, he paced anxiously, debating whether to go in. Unable to shake the unease, he finally pushed the door open.
The sight inside nearly stopped his heart. In a panic, he shouted, “Kevin!” He rushed to the bathtub and pulled Kevin out, shaking him desperately. The memories of years ago flashed before him—back then, he had almost killed Xiao. Now, he had hurt his only friend.
Should he never have come into this world? Why did he always bring harm to those around him?
Han clung tightly to Kevin, consumed by a terror he could not escape. Kevin coughed up water from his lungs, suffering as he leaned against Han. Suddenly, a drop of water landed on Kevin’s face, and he felt a strange sense of wonder.
