Kevin's First Encounter with Xiao
He feared that what he would see was the expression he detested most. Shangguan Han felt a pressing sensation in his lower abdomen, as if something was pushing against it. At a moment like this, he found himself at a loss for words.
Being a man himself, he certainly knew what it was. Yet, how could it be? Blinking in disbelief, he looked at Kevin, but to spare him any embarrassment, he pretended not to notice.
Gently, he laid Kevin back on the bed and pulled the covers over him. In a somewhat awkward voice, he said, “Ahem! The porridge is ready! I brought it for you.” Then he walked over to the table, took the bowl of porridge, and placed it in front of Kevin.
Kevin, a bit embarrassed, reached out to take it, but his hands were weak—he almost dropped it! Fortunately, Shangguan Han’s sharp eyes and quick reflexes caught the bowl just in time, saving Kevin from a scald.
Kevin gave Shangguan Han a grateful smile as he sat on the large, grayish-white bed. Though Kevin was about 1.8 meters tall, on this extravagantly large bed, he seemed unusually small. Perhaps “small” was not the right word for a man of his height, but it fit Kevin perfectly.
Kevin was slender, a type who had exercised often during his school days but never developed muscles—not even a hint of abs. People used to joke that Kevin was like a girl because of his delicate, almost feminine appearance, framed by a face that was captivatingly alluring.
He still remembered the first time he came to the Shangguan residence to visit Shangguan Han.
It was a bitter winter. Shangguan Han had a high fever and missed school, and Kevin, concerned, decided to visit him. Officially, it was to deliver homework, but in truth, it was a visit.
Kevin was extremely sensitive to the cold, so habitually he wrapped himself tightly in clothes before going outside. His taste was quite distinctive—he favored white and red. When he showed up at the Shangguan doorstep wearing a white coat edged with red, it was Shangguan Xiao who came to open the door.
At that time, Shangguan Xiao was in the sixth grade of elementary school, already noticeably smaller than her peers. When Kevin saw her, he hesitated for a moment, simply struck by how exquisitely delicate the little girl was. He smiled gently and greeted her, “Hello, little sister.”
The girl’s mischievous purple eyes sparkled as she playfully mimicked his tone, “Hello, beautiful big sister! Who are you here to see at our house?”
Her innocent demeanor made Kevin want to curse, but the words caught in his throat—he couldn’t say them, nor could he suppress the sudden flush of embarrassment that dyed his charming face bright red. Yet, he wasn’t about to quarrel with a child.
Calming himself, he recalled the girl’s words—“our house.” Could she be a relative of Shangguan Han?
Kevin possessed a pair of electrifying eyes that could stir excitement in anyone he looked at. Bending down to meet Shangguan Xiao’s gaze, he smiled warmly and said, “I’m a classmate of Shangguan Han’s. I heard he was sick, so I came to see him. Little sister, could you take me to him?”
Seeing the hopeful expression on his face, Shangguan Xiao tilted her head to examine him. After a moment, she said, “You’re looking for big brother? Alright, since you’re so pretty, I’ll take you to him.” Then, striking a pose with hands on hips and head held high, she looked utterly adorable, as if to say, “Don’t be too grateful.”
