Chapter 99: Arrogance Ultimately Leads to Destruction
Although it was unclear whether the Indra Beast was simply arrogant or truly self-assured, given the circumstances, the fact that it was willing to let Yimon unleash his full strength was a rare opportunity not to be missed. Right there, Yimon entered his Burst Mode.
Upon seeing this, the Indra Beast immediately slipped the conch-like object from his back onto his hand and swung it down toward Yimon. Yimon promptly activated Demon Lord Possession to boost his power, then threw a punch at the conch.
With a thunderous roar, their attacks collided. In the next instant, a shockwave exploded between them, striking the surrounding walls and splintering them with cracks.
The Indra Beast remained absolutely motionless, but Yimon was forced back two steps. From this alone, it was clear that the Indra Beast still held the advantage in terms of raw strength.
"Is that all you've got? What a pity!" the Indra Beast laughed heartily, then took a step forward, closing the distance between them. He raised the conch in his hand and brought it crashing down toward Yimon once more.
Seeing this, Yimon exited his Demon Lord Possession form, moved swiftly backward, and summoned Demon Lord Might to his back, transforming it into wings that lifted him into the air.
[Demon Lord Wave] Taking advantage of the small gap he had created, Yimon unleashed an energy attack at the Indra Beast.
[Reverse] At that moment, the Indra Beast removed the conch from his hand, aimed its mouth at Yimon, and fired a sonic attack.
The two attacks collided midair with a resounding boom. At the point of contact, energy and sound twisted against each other, and just as their conflict reached its peak, a deafening explosion erupted.
Accompanying the blast was a billowing cloud of black mist. Cloaked in this darkness, neither Yimon nor the Indra Beast could see the other. Yet, as the haze appeared, a blade of destruction materialized in Yimon’s hand. He surged forward toward the Indra Beast.
As he charged, the aura radiating from his body blew the black mist aside. When he finally broke free from the cloud and confronted the Indra Beast, the latter was already swinging the conch down at him.
However, Yimon had clearly anticipated this. Just as the conch was about to strike him, the aura around Yimon flared outward. Sensing the terrifying presence enveloping him, the Indra Beast was visibly shaken.
Nevertheless, the Indra Beast was a Mega Digimon and, moreover, a dungeon boss, so the effect did not last long. Still, even the briefest hesitation had cost him his chance.
By the time the Indra Beast recovered, Yimon had already broken through his defenses and appeared directly overhead. In the next instant, Yimon drove his sword down, stabbing straight through the Indra Beast’s skull and out his jaw.
Attacking the head was not only to inflict maximum damage, but also to seal the Indra Beast’s sonic attacks.
Yimon then tried to unleash a close-range [Demon Lord Wave] on the Indra Beast, but although the sword had pierced his head, the Indra Beast’s limbs remained unimpeded. Just as Yimon was about to strike, the Indra Beast stepped back and smashed Yimon against the wall with his conch.
The Indra Beast did not follow up with another attack, but instead reached up to his head with one hand, clearly intending to pull out the blade of destruction.
This was a game, not reality. Had it been real, such a blow from Yimon would have killed him instantly. But since this was a game, the Indra Beast survived. In fact, if he managed to pull out the sword, he would be able to use his sonic attack again.
[Flame Breath] At that moment, the Dragon Beast—whom the Indra Beast had been ignoring—suddenly launched a burst of fire at him. Though the flames failed to break his defenses, they did disrupt the Indra Beast to some extent.
[Demon Lord Wave] Seizing the moment bought by the Dragon Beast’s intervention, Yimon unleashed another energy attack at the Indra Beast.
Unlike the Dragon Beast’s attack, Yimon’s strike could not be taken lightly; ignoring it would mean certain destruction. Thus, the Indra Beast brought the conch before his chest like a shield to block Yimon’s attack.
Yet, in the very next moment, Yimon burst forth from the clash and appeared right in front of the Indra Beast. Immediately, he re-entered [Demon Lord Possession] and began raining blows upon his foe.
"Fact is, you’re even less useful than Vajra Beast," Yimon said coldly as he landed another punch, shattering the conch.
Now deprived of his conch, his head sealed, and trapped in a ring with nowhere to flee, the Indra Beast was finally destroyed by Yimon.
Truth be told, the Indra Beast was indeed formidable. After all, Yimon had battled many of the Twelve Demon Emperor Digimon, and Indra Beast ranked seventh—six others stood above him. Yet, it was the seventh-ranked Indra Beast who was first to be cowed by Yimon’s aura.
But in the end, strong or weak, the Indra Beast was defeated. Absorbing a surge of data from his fallen foe, Yimon’s condition returned to its peak, his base attributes increasing as well. Naturally, he also obtained the [Indra Beast’s Emblem].
Counting up, Yimon now possessed seven emblems. It seemed he would need all twelve before discovering their true purpose.
Afterward, Yimon left the Indra Beast’s chamber. His gaze settled on the room next door, where a glint of determination shone in his eyes, and he strode inside. The neighboring room belonged to the Boiro Beast.
Upon entering, Yimon found himself surprised by the environment within Boiro Beast’s quarters.
