Chapter 114: Breaking the Instance Boundaries

This minor boss was a Furomon. Furomon, an Oni-type Virus species, is an Adult-level Digimon whose signature move is "Evil Hurricane." It belongs to the same clan as Ogremon and is also known as the Disaster-Wind Beast.

The strength of this Furomon was truly formidable, with a total combat power of 1,413 points. Even the Digimon I-mon encountered back in the Deva dungeon only had combat power levels of around 1,500. It is important to note, however, that while this Furomon was an Adult-level Digimon, those Deva were Perfect-level. Regardless, under the terrifying combat power of Paildramon, which exceeded 5,000 points, this Furomon was easily steamrolled.

Next, they encountered the second hidden dungeon minor boss: Ice Ogremon.

Ice Ogremon is an Ice-Snow type Virus species, an Adult-level Digimon whose signature move is "Ice-Snow Fist." It is a subspecies of Ogremon that survives in cold environments and possesses a strong sense of territory; even a single step into its domain will trigger an attack. Sometimes, they even compete for territory with Mojyamon. Although the ice on its shoulders can be used as a weapon, it is more often used by companions to compete over whose is larger.

The total combat power of this Ice Ogremon was 1,543 points. It was over 100 points stronger than the previous Furomon and even surpassed the combat power of the Deva Digimon I-mon had fought earlier. While this increase might seem incredible, in reality, once one exceeds 1,000 points, an increase of 100 points is proportionally equivalent to an increase of 10 points at the 100-point level. Thus, it was not actually that significant. Ultimately, Ice Ogremon was also taken care of by Paildramon, with its 1,543 combat points amounting to only one-third of Paildramon's current strength.

After defeating Ice Ogremon, the boss of this hidden dungeon appeared before I-mon: Ogremon X.

Ogremon X is an Oni-type Virus species, an Adult-level Digimon whose signature move is "Tyrant Fist." As the X-Antibody stimulated its potential, its temper became increasingly explosive, and its cruelty expanded significantly, turning it into a berserker that eagerly launched attacks. It wields an axe that is a fusion of an electric guitar and a chainsaw, playing the cries of souls to the melody of rock music.

It is worth noting that the total combat power of this Ogremon X had reached 1,800 points. One should know that the weakest Perfect-level Digimon only has about 1,000 combat power points (a Digimon that doesn't even reach 1,000 points really cannot be considered a true Perfect-level). In other words, as an Adult-level Digimon, it was already nearly twice as strong as the weakest Perfect-level Digimon.

Unfortunately, Paildramon is not the weakest Perfect-level Digimon. While not the strongest either, it was certainly far more powerful than Ogremon X.

I-mon extended a hand to Paildramon and signaled, "Stay back and watch the flanks for me. I want to handle this one myself."

Hearing this, Paildramon retracted the two biological cannons that were about to emerge from its waist and stood to the side, observing the battlefield. Paildramon naturally understood what it meant to guard the flanks.

"Burst Evolution." Facing Ogremon X, I-mon chose Burst Mode on the spot. After all, his own combat power had only just crossed the 1,000-point mark. Compared to the 1,800 points of Ogremon X, he was truly too weak. If he didn't use Burst Evolution, he feared he wouldn't even have the qualifications to face Ogremon X.

On the spot, I-mon’s total combat power surged to 4,000 points.

Silently looking at his own combat power, I-mon went quiet. He had originally wanted to have a good fight with Ogremon X, but he had truly forgotten the boost his Burst Mode provided.

"Oh well, in that case, let's just finish off Ogremon X." I-mon sighed silently, and then, unleashing his Demon Lord's Authority, he threw a punch directly at Ogremon X.

Normally, Ogremon X should have dissipated into data under this punch. But instead, Ogremon X was sent flying backward, crashing through a row of dozens of massive trees.

The punch that should have destroyed it failed to do so. Seeing this, I-mon, thinking something unusual had occurred, furrowed his brow and stepped forward, intending to strike again.

[Excessive combat power detected within the dungeon. Dungeon Breakout initiated!]

Just as I-mon took that step, a system interface appeared before him, followed by a cutscene. As the cutscene began, a detailed introduction to the "Dungeon Breakout" appeared before I-mon’s eyes.

A Dungeon Breakout only occurs when a player's combat power far exceeds the maximum intensity of the dungeon. It causes the dungeon boss to evolve to the next stage—from Baby to In-Training, In-Training to Rookie, Rookie to Adult, Adult to Perfect, Perfect to Ultimate, and from a weaker Ultimate to a stronger one, and so on.

Furthermore, if the player can still clear the dungeon after a breakout, they will receive much richer rewards. For example, in this case, although it was a hidden dungeon, it was still an Adult-level dungeon, and its rewards would not typically exceed the Adult level. But with the breakout, the rewards I-mon and his team would receive would be at the Perfect level. It could be said that it elevated the rewards by an entire tier. As to why previous normal dungeons did not have breakouts, I-mon did not know.

In reality, Dungeon Breakout is unique to hidden dungeons. Because the rewards for hidden dungeons far exceed those of normal dungeons, they cannot be allowed to be steamrolled so easily. As for normal dungeons? Even if someone farmed them ten thousand times, what of it? At most, it would just be a few tens of thousands of copper coins—barely a few dozen gold coins.

I-mon stood there, watching helplessly as Ogremon X evolved, seeing the light of evolution flash and the evolution matrix appear on its body. He wanted to stop the evolution, but since he was trapped in a cutscene, he was completely unable to intervene.

Finally, the evolution of Ogremon X was complete. Looking at this Perfect-level Digimon, I-mon did not expect it would turn out to be this one.
