Chapter 110: The Ring of the Holy Angel Beast
Ring of the Holy Angel Beast (Special · Epic · Beginner · Holy Angel Beast)
Type: Accessory
Required Attribute: Overall Combat Power of at least 1,000 points or a Perfect Digimon
Heaven’s Gate: This is the skill of the Holy Angel Beast, which can be actively used once per dungeon run. Heaven’s Gate can absorb Digimon whose overall combat power does not exceed twice its own. It also absorbs various attacks. Moreover, Heaven’s Gate has both health and a time limit; once either expires, it disappears. It can absorb Digimon with an overall combat power of up to 20,000 points.
Durability: 20/20
This ring was formed from the residual data of the Holy Angel Beast after fighting enemies until the last moment, when all data was corrupted and it could no longer regenerate into a Digiegg.
One must admit, this item is quite remarkable. According to the game’s calculations, an overall combat power of 10,000 points represents the maximum full value of a Perfect Digimon’s combat power. Anything above that enters the Ultimate Digimon’s territory.
However, based on Heaven’s Gate’s description—absorbing up to twice its own combat power—the ring’s use is realistically limited to the maximum full combat power of a Perfect Digimon’s level.
Fortunately, One Beast’s overall combat power is only 980 points—neither too high nor too low. Without undergoing Burst Evolution, he certainly cannot use the Holy Angel Beast’s ring. But being just 20 points short is not a big gap; a few more dungeon runs would suffice.
At this point, for the vast majority of players, the Twelve Emperor Demon Digimon dungeon event was effectively over. It seemed the official design intended this as well. Thus, after obtaining the Holy Angel Beast’s ring, One Beast’s figure returned directly to his login space.
“Next, only one final thing remains,” One Beast murmured, producing a key.
Everything up to this point was merely the completion of his first objective for this login session. But besides that, One Beast had a second goal: to venture into the treasure vault of the Twelve Emperor Demon Digimon.
[Do you wish to consume one key to the Twelve Emperor Demon Treasury to enter the vault?]
Though the system’s repeated prompts felt a bit excessive, One Beast had no other choice but to click ‘Agree.’
Upon confirmation, One Beast appeared inside an immense palace. It was obvious to the naked eye that many treasures lay here. Besides One Beast, other players were present as well. Behind him stood the imposing figure of the Giant Dragon Digimon.
[Rules of the Twelve Emperor Demon Treasury: Physical combat is forbidden within the treasury. Any act of violence will result in disqualification from the treasury. If multiple players desire the same item, they may choose to resolve the dispute through intellectual duel, financial duel, or physical duel.]
[Each player may only take one item from the treasury. If you touch an item and no other player contests it, and you confirm it is what you want, you may leave with it.]
[If you do not confirm your choice but still hold the item when time expires, it will be assumed you have claimed it.]
[Time limit: Each player may remain in the treasury for one hour. Within this hour, you must secure the item you desire. If at the last second you hold nothing, you will receive nothing.]
[Intellectual Duel: Consists of three rounds—your question, your opponent’s question, and a system question. When you pose a question, the opponent has one chance to answer; a wrong answer gives you a win for that round. During the system question, both players race to answer; the first correct responder wins, the other loses.]
[Financial Duel: Unlimited rounds where each side bids higher than the other. The duel ends when one player concedes. The system then verifies the winner’s ability to pay. If the winner cannot pay but the opponent can, the opponent wins.]
[Physical Duel: Both players face off in an arena. The winner claims the desired item; the loser suffers no penalties.]
As soon as One Beast entered the treasury, these rules were delivered by the system. It was clear this design was meticulous and strict.
At that moment, within One Beast’s pupils, the passage of time was visible. However, the time indicator only appeared if one paid attention, showing the current time.
Of the three duel types—intellectual, financial, and physical—the simplest seemed to be financial duel, but actually physical duel was the easiest. The loser suffered no penalty, while the winner could take their desired item immediately.
The second simplest was financial duel, which depended on financial strength. As long as one did not recklessly bid beyond their means, it was straightforward.
The most difficult was intellectual duel because:
You cannot know if your question will be answered correctly.
You cannot know if you can answer your opponent’s question.
You cannot know if you can solve the system’s question.
Therefore, if a dispute arose with another player, it was best to avoid intellectual duel if possible. Losing unexpectedly would be devastating.
After processing all this information, One Beast casually approached a sharp sword nearby and picked it up to examine it. Unsurprisingly, no information was inscribed on it; nothing could be discerned.
In other words, this venture would truly depend on luck. Luck can sometimes be considered a form of strength, but usually, everyone’s luck is about the same.
As One Beast’s gaze shifted, it suddenly landed on the Giant Dragon Digimon behind him...
