Chapter 90: Vajra Beast (Eighth Update)

Valdurmon, a holy-beast vaccine-type ultimate Digimon, wields the special move Barrier. One of the Twelve Demon Kings, it represents the Ox of the twelve zodiac signs. A subordinate of Black Tortoise, one of the Four Holy Beast Digimon, it has a samurai-like temperament and places great importance on courtesy. Among the Twelve Demon Kings, its power ranks first.

Meanwhile, when Isu entered the chamber, he discovered that it was nothing like Gajirinmon's room. Gajirinmon's chamber was a jungle, perfectly suited to a sudden ambush at the outset. Here, however, Valdurmon's room was a ring arena.

There was nowhere to dodge around the edges, and the space itself was not large; at the very least, there was nowhere to use hit-and-run tactics. As for the boss of this room, Valdurmon stood upon the arena.

With one hand raised, holding a greatsword, Valdurmon pointed it at Isu and said, "Challenger, show me your strongest power."

"Interesting. A cutscene? Or is this part of the design?" Isu murmured. Though he did not know why it was like this, he still activated Burst Mode without hesitation. If he did not, he would not be able to win.

Whether it was because of some kind of design or not, this Valdurmon actually waited until Isu had entered Burst Mode. In a normal battle, how could an enemy possibly give you time to transform into a new form? If you wanted to change forms, you had to search for the opening yourself.

It was also worth mentioning that this Valdurmon's overall combat power was identical to Gajirinmon's: fifteen hundred points. It seemed that an overall combat power of fifteen hundred was the minimum threshold for a solo challenge.

Fortunately, this was Isu. If it were an ordinary player, a combat power of fifteen hundred would have been enough to make a solo challenge fail outright. Of course, whether this was only his own exceptional case, or whether all solo challengers were facing opponents with fifteen hundred points of overall combat power, would have to wait until he had the chance to find out.

As for now, there was only one thing he needed to do: defeat Valdurmon.

Perhaps because Valdurmon already believed that Isu in Burst Mode was his full strength, the moment Isu rushed toward him after transforming, Valdurmon slammed both swords into the ground and triggered a ground fracture.

Isu had originally been charging straight across the arena toward Valdurmon, but when he saw those fissures racing toward him from Valdurmon's side, the Demon King aura around him instantly transformed into wings, lifting him high into the air. Since he was airborne, the cracks on the ground could no longer affect him.

The Sword of Destruction.

In an instant, Isu's figure appeared before Valdurmon, a sharp blade forming in his hand as he swung it down at him. But Valdurmon, too, had two greatswords, and for a moment the clash rang out without end.

However, Valdurmon's overall combat power was higher than Isu's, and he also had one more greatsword than Isu had blades. Thus, in an instant, Valdurmon seized the upper hand. Still, merely having the upper hand did not mean he could destroy Isu outright.

If the stalemate continued like this, the one who would ultimately suffer would likely still be Isu. After all, he was in Burst Mode. Though this form greatly increased his combat power, it was not an unlimited increase.

If Isu were likened to a reservoir, then in his normal state the draining of digital energy within his body was like opening a few gates, merely allowing everyday circulation. But in Burst Mode, all the gates were opened, and the water inside the reservoir surged out in torrents.

In the short term, this could unleash the water in the reservoir to a tremendous degree. But at the same time, the water in a reservoir has a fixed limit. If you let it drain quickly, the water inside will grow less and less. Once it is gone, even if all the reservoir gates are wide open, even if the reservoir itself is destroyed, not a single drop can be found.

Isu was exactly in that state now. Burst Mode could not be sustained. Once it was sustained too long, beyond a certain threshold, the digital energy in his body would continue to diminish, and so would his combat power. If his digital energy were truly exhausted, then this "reservoir" of Isu's would likely be ruined as well.

Flame Breath.

Just then, the giant dragon nearby seized the opening and unleashed an attack directly at Valdurmon.

Yet in that instant, Valdurmon had already noticed it. Swinging the greatsword in his hand down with one arm, he released a blade wind that instantly scattered the giant dragon's flames. The remaining wind of the blade then tore toward the giant dragon.

But at the very moment Valdurmon launched his attack on the giant dragon, Isu's own attack landed on Valdurmon as well. Willing to endure a direct hit, he forced the Sword of Destruction through and severed the arm Valdurmon had used to attack the giant dragon.

Because of that, Valdurmon's attack lost its aim. In the end, the blade wind merely grazed the giant dragon's body before slamming into the wall behind him.

As for Valdurmon himself, this single exchange had completely shifted him from having even a slight advantage to being at a disadvantage. And because Isu's defense was even greater than Valdurmon's, he did not use the Sword of Destruction to block Valdurmon's attack.

He allowed Valdurmon's greatsword to sink into his shoulder, but the attack was held back by the Demon King aura in its defensive form. Even when Valdurmon tried to pull the greatsword free, strands of black energy tightly bound the blade in place.

"You've lost!" Seeing this, a triumphant smile finally appeared at the corner of Isu's lips. In the next moment, he swung his sword down and severed Valdurmon's other arm.

By this point, both of Valdurmon's hands and both greatswords had been cut away by Isu, which meant that Valdurmon had lost the means to attack and defend. And because of the terrain, there was nowhere to run even if he wanted to.

In the end, after a little more time passed, Valdurmon was slain by Isu. At the same time, Isu's condition returned to its peak, and he obtained Valdurmon's Proof. After that, he left the room with the giant dragon.
