Chapter 102: The True Darrow Beast
Thirty minutes earlier, after parting ways with the Great Dragon Beast, One Beast staggered off in a certain direction. He had no idea whether the Mohuro Beast awaited him ahead; he was merely following One Beast’s instructions, wandering aimlessly to see if he could find the Mohuro Beast.
Time slowly passed—twenty-nine minutes and thirty seconds—and the usually luck-favored Great Dragon Beast had yet to find any trace of the Mohuro Beast. At that moment, he reached an uphill slope, lost his footing, and tumbled down into a small pit.
The pit was tiny—roughly the size of a sphere ten centimeters in diameter, with an opening just over ten centimeters wide. In other words, had the Great Dragon Beast been any larger, he wouldn’t have fit inside. But fate had it that he fell precisely into this hollow.
The pit was also quite deep. After twenty seconds of falling, the Great Dragon Beast finally landed at the bottom, which revealed a comparatively spacious chamber. Besides the opening above, there were other passages leading in and out. It was here that the Great Dragon Beast encountered the Mohuro Beast.
“You found me after all…” Mohuro Beast murmured, a faint trace of despair at the corner of his mouth. Then, without warning, his body exploded into a dazzling array of white light data before vanishing entirely.
Some of this data restored One Beast’s vitality, some enhanced his fundamental attributes, and the rest transformed into the [Mohuro Beast’s Proof], which landed in One Beast’s hands.
Clearly, obtaining this item signified passage through this trial. One Beast exited the Mohuro Beast’s chamber and, after glancing at its door, proceeded directly to the adjacent room—belonging to Zhen Daluo Beast.
Zhen Daluo Beast, a sacred bird-type data species and a perfect-level Digimon, wielded the signature move [Material Stream]. He was one of the Twelve Imperial Demon Digimon, representing the “Rooster” among the Chinese zodiac. As a subordinate of the White Tiger Beast, one of the Four Sacred Beasts, he was known for his love of quarrels and rumors, often sowing discord between foes and allies alike. His armor was reputedly the toughest among the Twelve Imperial Demon Digimon.
Upon entering Zhen Daluo Beast’s chamber, One Beast found himself standing atop a barren desert—vast, empty, and desolate—without a single figure in sight. Naturally, there was no sign of Zhen Daluo Beast.
“Where could Zhen Daluo Beast be hiding?” One Beast muttered, his brows furrowing in confusion as his gaze settled on the sands beneath his feet.
Undoubtedly, if Zhen Daluo Beast was somewhere he had to be, and yet was nowhere to be seen, the only plausible place was beneath the sand. As One Beast’s eyes fixed on the ground, suddenly a sphere erupted from the desert floor, hurtling toward him.
Reacting swiftly, One Beast manifested the wings of the Demon King, propelling himself backward and narrowly evading the incoming orb.
Zhen Daluo Beast sneered mercilessly, “Ha! You pathetic weakling—do you really think you can attack me? You’re better off deleting your account and going back to playing in the mud.”
One Beast narrowed his eyes slightly but maintained a composed expression. Silently observing Zhen Daluo Beast, he soon shifted into explosive mode.
“Prepare to die, weakling,” Zhen Daluo Beast taunted harshly.
With those words, he wielded a staff identical to the one used by Gong Pi Luo Beast and unleashed a powerful electric current toward One Beast.
But with a flicker of his wings, One Beast deftly dodged the assault. In the blink of an eye, he closed the distance to stand before Zhen Daluo Beast. Channeling the power of the Demon King, he struck a devastating punch.
Rather than dodging, Zhen Daluo Beast retracted his head, wings, and legs into his spherical armor and charged directly at One Beast.
One Beast’s momentum was undeterred, and his punch struck the armored shell. Unfortunately, the blow failed to breach it, and the force of the impact sent One Beast flying backward.
Zhen Daluo Beast’s armor was renowned as the strongest defense among the Twelve Imperial Demon Digimon—all perfect-level Digimon. If One Beast’s punch had pierced it, it would no longer hold that title.
“Damn it… what am I supposed to do now?” One Beast muttered gravely, eyes fixed on the formidable armor.
In this world, anything taken to extremes was terrifying. Extreme speed was deadly, whether in offense or evasion. Extreme power was devastating regardless of the target. And extreme defense, whether in blocking or enduring, was equally fearsome.
No matter how powerful your attack, if my defense can withstand it, your strength is meaningless.
“Ha! You can’t even break my armor, weakling. Better go back to playing in the mud,” Zhen Daluo Beast mocked, transforming once again into a sphere and charging at One Beast.
“One hundred percent perfect defense doesn’t exist in this world. Not even the Buri Verudron Shield of the Lord of Gods can claim that. Much less a mere perfect-level Digimon like you, whose armor isn’t even made of time-digital metal. Stop making me laugh,” One Beast retorted coldly, a mocking smile curling his lips as Zhen Daluo Beast charged forward once more.
As the armored sphere barreled toward him, One Beast sidestepped gracefully and extended a hand to grasp the very top of the armor.
There was a gap—a place where Zhen Daluo Beast’s head protruded.
Without hesitation, One Beast unleashed a continuous barrage of Demon King Waves into that opening.
Suddenly, a blinding white light burst forth from within the armor. Seizing the moment, One Beast hurled the now-damaged spherical armor far into the distance.
