Chapter 97: The Shandiluo Beast

The Wall of Flames stood firm as Baoya’s attack neared the Beast, but the Beast was quick to summon the Shield of Tyrannosaurus to defend himself.

Boom! The remaining arrows struck the Wall of Flames, but ultimately, they were blocked. The Beast hadn’t expected this Morinro Beast to be so troublesome. His attacks against Morinro Beast were useless; yet when Morinro Beast struck him, he paid a steep price to fend it off.

And this was only the beginning. If such confrontations continued, the Beast feared he wouldn’t be able to pass this stage.

“You little thief, stop touching my things!” Morinro Beast suddenly turned his head, glaring at the Dragon Beast who was searching for treasures beside him. Morinro Beast then launched a direct attack at the Dragon Beast.

“Not good,” thought the Beast, startled by the scene. He knew that the Dragon Beast’s strength was nowhere near enough to withstand Morinro Beast’s assault. If he couldn’t intercept Morinro Beast in time, the Dragon Beast would surely be destroyed.

In the past, he might have let it happen. Sacrificing a Dragon Beast could create an opportunity for the Beast to defeat the dungeon boss, something he would gladly accept. But now, with Morinro Beast in an invincible state, even if he killed the Dragon Beast, the Beast still couldn’t touch Morinro Beast.

Moreover, if he allowed the Dragon Beast to be killed, when Morinro Beast returned to entangle him, what would he use to defeat Morinro Beast? If Morinro Beast remained unharmed, he might hold out for a while, but not forever; sooner or later, Morinro Beast would destroy him. Thus, the Beast had no choice but to rescue the Dragon Beast.

Unfortunately, at this moment, the positions of the three meant the Beast was furthest from the Dragon Beast, with Morinro Beast between them. Moreover, Morinro Beast was closer to the Dragon Beast than to the Beast. This meant the Beast had to exert all his strength to have any hope of saving the Dragon Beast.

Sadly, his speed was insufficient; when he was still three meters away from the Dragon Beast, Morinro Beast’s arrows were already upon it. But just then, the Dragon Beast produced a shield, placing it before himself and forcibly blocking Morinro Beast’s attack.

“This is my Heaven and Earth Shield, a treasure worth one hundred million wealth units—you actually found it, damn you!” Morinro Beast glared at the shield, anger contorting his face.

Though its true power was unknown, Morinro Beast’s attack was indeed blocked by the Heaven and Earth Shield. Most importantly, not a single mark was left on it.

“Wait, is that the Meteorite Spear forged from outer space iron? Damn it, that’s a treasure worth a billion!” At that moment, the Dragon Beast drew forth a long spear. Upon seeing it, Morinro Beast was thrown into turmoil, then immediately turned to flee.

The Dragon Beast, saying nothing, simply hurled the spear at Morinro Beast. The spear pierced through Morinro Beast, reducing him to shimmering fragments of light.

As before, the Beast’s state returned to its peak, with his base attributes increased. Morinro Beast left behind a token in place—a Proof of Morinro Beast.

The Beast gazed at the scene, bewildered. He hadn't expected that the invincible Morinro Beast would be instantly vanquished by the Dragon Beast. Clearly, this was due to the Meteorite Spear the Dragon Beast had found.

Such treasures capable of eliminating Morinro Beast in a single blow must be rare in the entire treasury. If they were common, anyone could simply grab a random item and defeat Morinro Beast.

Perhaps most of the so-called treasures in this vault were worthless. Only then would other challengers not have such an easy time against Morinro Beast.

After all, the Beast’s side had few members. For those in teams, several could hold Morinro Beast at bay while others searched for treasures capable of defeating him—it would be much easier.

With Morinro Beast defeated, the Beast left Morinro Beast’s chamber and proceeded to the adjacent room. Next door awaited Sandilo Beast.

Sandilo Beast, a sacred beast-type virus Digimon in its perfect form, with a signature move called Darkness. It was one of the Twelve Demon Emperor Digimon, representing the Snake in the Zodiac. Sandilo Beast served under Zhuque Beast, one of the Four Sacred Digimon, and was the most cunning and cruel among the Twelve Demon Emperors. It disliked swift resolutions, preferring to slowly drive its foes to doom. Usually resting underground, it excelled at subterranean movement.

When the Beast and Dragon Beast entered Sandilo Beast’s chamber, they found themselves in a passage within a cave. There was no exit in sight, only stone walls on all sides, though the space was fairly large.

The Beast realized that each chamber had a unique environment. Whether the setting favored the dungeon boss inside was anyone’s guess.

Sometimes, because of the room’s environment, the Beast was nearly overwhelmed by the boss, as with the Palace Beast and Maze Beast. Other times, the environment allowed the Beast to defeat the boss, as with Fazzero Beast, Andiro Beast, and Morinro Beast.

Regardless, he was now inside the room. It was not the time for overthinking—his task was to find Sandilo Beast hidden here and destroy it.

Having learned from Maze Beast and Andiro Beast, the Beast dared not move carelessly, fearing he might provoke a wrathful Sandilo Beast evolved to its ultimate form, or step into one of its traps. Such possibilities existed, though the exact likelihood was unknown to him.

Yet, as he ventured to the end of the passage, entering a spacious underground chamber, he still saw no trace of Sandilo Beast. Had he not been certain that Sandilo Beast was here, he might have thought he’d lost his way.

Then, the Beast and Dragon Beast entered the underground space, where many other passages were visible. Still, there was no sign of Sandilo Beast.
