The first to undergo mutation was the burly man who had attacked the bespectacled individual. Gray strands of fur began sprouting from his body, and in the next instant, he transformed into a developing-stage bioweapon Digimon—the BioGazimon.

Gazimon, a mammalian-type virus species and a developing-stage Digimon, is known for its signature move, "Shielded Breath." It is a two-legged mammalian Digimon with sharp claws, a rare trait among its kind. However, its temperament is extremely volatile, and it never approaches humans.

Upon transforming into the BioGazimon, its eyes clouded over, clearly indicating a loss of self-awareness. It opened its mouth wide, releasing clouds of gaseous toxic fumes.

For a moment, those sealed within the confined space began to feel dazed and disoriented. This sudden change ignited a fierce survival instinct among them. Soon, others who had shown no signs of turning into bioweapon Digimon began to transform as well.

However, the vast majority of these transformations failed. Many exploded before fully becoming bioweapon Digimon. Perhaps due to the activation of the digital field, their flesh and blood had already been assimilated into data, so the scene, though chaotic, was not excessively gory.

The few who successfully transformed into bioweapon Digimon all, like the BioGazimon, lost their self-awareness and began attacking one another.

"Finally, they're out. That's great," the man with glasses observed the scene, a faint smile curling at the corner of his mouth. "Now, let's capture them all. These are extremely valuable research specimens—we can't afford to lose them like this."

"Understood," came a confident reply from another. He then prepared to carry out further tasks.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!"

Suddenly, within the room, red lights flashed and a series of beeping sounds filled their ears.

The bespectacled man hurriedly asked, "What on earth is going on? Why is this happening?"

Another responded, "A Devouring Source has appeared within the field, emitting an enormous amount of devouring power—it’s indiscriminately consuming our digital data. If this continues, the data concentration will become dense enough to give birth to an Ultimate Digimon."

"Then why aren’t you shutting down the digital field immediately?" Although the man with glasses did not want this experiment to fail, it was clear that an unforeseen incident had occurred. At this point, he preferred to abandon the experiment rather than allow the situation to escalate.

"It’s impossible—the digital field cannot be deactivated," came the reply.

As the words left his mouth, they all looked through the nearby glass and witnessed what was unfolding. A spherical glowing orb floated in midair, continuously devouring digital data from all directions.

"Damn it! What is that glowing orb? Hurry up and destroy it!" The man with glasses felt an inexplicable dread as he stared at the orb, as if something terrifying was about to be born from within it.

"Understood," the others acknowledged. They began operating the controls, causing panels on the surrounding walls to open. From these emerged barrels of guns that immediately fired upon the glowing orb.

They had hoped these attacks would destroy the orb, but instead, it emitted a faint ripple that shattered every assault, converting the destroyed attacks into data that flowed back into the orb.

Feeling the terrifying aura emanating from the orb, the man with glasses exclaimed in horror, "Damn it! Think of a way to destroy this thing quickly! I can already sense the terrifying presence coming from it. Could it really be birthing an Ultimate Digimon? Don’t you have any experience dealing with this kind of situation?"

The group’s faces grew grim. They wanted to have such experience, but this was their first time encountering anything like this—how could they possibly be prepared?

But there was no time for regrets. If the man’s fears were true and an Ultimate Digimon was gestating within that orb, it would not only mean their annihilation but could also unleash catastrophic damage upon the human world.

After all, an Ultimate Digimon is an entity that fears no nation-level deterrent weapon and has no obligation to obey human will. Unfortunately, their struggles seemed futile.

"Damn it—we have only one option left," said the man who had been speaking with the bespectacled man, approaching with a forced smile.

"What option?" the man with glasses asked urgently.

"Blow this place up—destroy everything here. That might be the only way to prevent the birth of that orb," the man said gravely. "But you must understand, only you can make that decision. Our time is running out. If you delay any longer, there might be no chance left to act."

"I understand," the man nodded. "In that case, we abandon this place. Activate the self-destruct mechanism. Let that thing—and everything here—be destroyed. The rest, follow me out."

"Understood," the others agreed, reluctant to leave but gripped by a rising fear as they eyed the orb. Moreover, with the plan to destroy the facility, staying behind would be certain death. No one wished to die unless existence was worse than death itself.

As they fled, a sudden flicker of light caught their attention from within the orb: an eye flashed briefly, its gaze following the direction in which they were retreating.

"You cannot escape..." A cold voice echoed faintly from within the orb...
