Chapter 101: The Mahoraga Beast
Makuramon, an Ultimate-level Holy Beast-type Data Digimon, whose signature move is [Terror]. He is one of the Twelve Deva Digimon, representing the "Monkey" of the zodiac. A subordinate of Baihumon, one of the Four Sovereign Digimon, he is a peaceful Digimon at heart who expresses his emotions through full-body gestures.
The environment inside Makuramon's room resembled a children's playground. However, everything around was built from toy blocks, making it look like a veritable block castle.
Yishou surveyed his surroundings, murmuring to himself, "The difficulty of this place seems to be somewhat easier."
"Hehehe, let's play a game!" Right then, Makuramon's figure appeared.
[Rules of Makuramon's Room: Makuramon is invincible while in this room; normal attacks cannot inflict damage on him. To defeat Makuramon, you must accept his game request and defeat him within the game. Additionally, Makuramon's games will be different every time, and he will not attack the players.] Just as Makuramon proposed the game, the system panel popped up once again.
Well, it seemed Yishou had no power to refuse Makuramon's game request.
"Sure," Yishou agreed, nodding at Makuramon once he accepted the situation.
"Our game is called Hide-and-Seek. You must find me within thirty minutes. Find me, and you win. Fail to find me, and you lose." As soon as Makuramon finished speaking, he vanished.
Yishou had originally intended to tail Makuramon so he could find him easily. However, the moment Makuramon's voice faded, Yishou's body froze, unable to move. He could only watch helplessly as Makuramon disappeared from sight. It took about a hundred seconds before Yishou could move again.
[The Hide-and-Seek game has officially begun. The countdown starts now.] Just then, another system panel appeared before Yishou's eyes. Shortly after the text appeared, it faded away, replaced by a thirty-minute countdown timer.
"Damn it, I have to find Makuramon within thirty minutes?" Yishou looked around, his face grim. But there was no time for him to overthink it now.
"Go. We'll split up. No matter what, we must find Makuramon within thirty minutes." Yishou patted Tyranomon on the head. Then, he converted his Demon Lord's Might into flight mode and soared in the direction Makuramon had gone.
Although he did not know if he would find Makuramon in that direction, since Makuramon had headed that way, there was a high probability of finding him there.
On the other side, after Yishou left, Tyranomon shook his head, picked a random direction, and walked off. Yishou and Tyranomon had officially parted ways.
Yishou flew swiftly through the air, but unfortunately, he could not locate Makuramon. Naturally, Makuramon would not make it easy for Yishou to find him. After all, if it were that simple, there would be no need for hide-and-seek.
Time ticked away, minute by minute, and in the blink of an eye, twenty-seven minutes had passed. This meant only three minutes remained until the end of the hide-and-seek game.
If Yishou could not find Makuramon within three minutes, he would lose the game. If Makuramon lost, he would die. Thus, if Yishou lost, he would likely die as well. There could be no exceptions; after all, they were inside a game.
"It seems I have no choice but to use that move..." In the silence, Yishou made up his mind.
The next moment, Yishou entered Burst Mode. Finding a high vantage point, he activated Demon Lord Possession and unleashed a Demon Lord Wave.
From this, his intention was clear: he wanted to destroy the block castle. No matter where Makuramon was hiding, he had to be inside this castle. If the block castle were destroyed, Makuramon's hiding spot would go with it, making him easy to find.
However, Yishou had avoided doing this earlier out of fear that such a rash action might trigger some unforeseen complications. But now, with only three minutes left—no, more like just over two minutes—he couldn't afford to waste any more time. Even if other complications arose, he had no choice but to face them.
To Yishou's surprise, however, even his full-power strike—which exceeded ten thousand attack power—failed to damage the block castle in the slightest. Seeing this, Yishou sighed and deactivated Burst Mode. He realized that this block castle, like Makuramon himself, was likely set to be indestructible.
After all, the only way to win was to play Makuramon's game and defeat him within its rules. If a thousand-man detachment came here and the block castle could be easily demolished, Makuramon would lose no matter what game he chose to play.
Sitting atop the high point, Yishou looked around with a bitter smile. With just over two minutes left, he had lost the drive to keep searching. Now, he could only rely on Tyranomon, who had always seemed to possess incredibly good luck.
Of course, if Tyranomon failed to find him, Yishou couldn't complain. After all, he had already made it to Makuramon. At worst, when he re-entered the dungeon later, he could clear the other three stages first before returning to Makuramon's room.
Time ticked away, second by second. In the blink of an eye, only the final ten seconds remained. These ten seconds seemed incredibly brief, yet to Yishou, it felt like waiting for eons.
[Congratulations, your Digimon has found Makuramon. You have won this game.] Just then, the system panel flashed before Yishou once more.
Yishou had not expected Tyranomon to actually find Makuramon at the very last second. Having searched for thirty minutes himself and come up empty-handed, he knew all too well how difficult it was to find him. With that in mind, Yishou grew even more curious about how Tyranomon had managed to pull it off.
