Time rewound just a little before—at the moment when that man transformed into a Gazimon and unleashed his power, the boy affected by it—the one whose attack had landed a beast in the hospital—was also caught in the ripple.

Immediately, his whole body weakened, collapsing to the ground. A single thought flickered through the boy’s mind, but almost instantly, he lost the strength even to hold onto it.

“Do you want to gain power?” Just as he closed his eyes and sank into boundless darkness, a voice suddenly whispered in his ear.

Instinctively, the boy asked, “Who are you?”

“I’m a passing Digimon. I can give you my power, but in return, you must give me your body. It’s a win-win situation, isn’t it?” The voice spoke again.

The boy bargained, “I can give you my body, but you must let me fulfill two wishes first. Only after that will my body be completely yours.”

“Understood. Deal,” the voice replied readily.

The boy then asked, “Don’t you want to know what my wishes are?”

“I already know. Those two wishes are nothing,” came the calm answer. As the words fell, the boy felt a surge of immense power welling up within him in the darkness.

After a while, the boy seemed able to open his eyes. When he did, in that instant, he caught a fleeting glimpse of the group trying to flee. He whispered low, “You won’t escape…”

Those people had just reached a door—a gate that should have opened automatically—but it didn’t respond at all. The group pounded on it and shouted in desperation.

“It’s useless. I am a Digimon. Digimon and data networks share a certain connection. Do you really think I would let you leave?” A voice echoed from behind them.

They turned around and saw an Ultimate-level Digimon standing there. Instantly, terror gripped them.

Unfortunately, they had no other thoughts left. After dispatching the others, this Ultimate Digimon silently looked at one of its hands, then glanced at the four Child-level Digimon still fighting.

Four, because the rest were all dead.

“Stop right now,” the Ultimate Digimon commanded, its aura forcibly pressing down on them.

The overwhelming presence subdued them completely. The four remaining Digimon were Gazimon, Beetlemon, Impmon, and SnowAgumon.

Beetlemon, an insect-type Vaccine Digimon at the Child level, known for its hard exoskeleton but relatively weak offense, is one of the basic forms among insect Digimon.

Impmon, a small demon-type Virus Digimon at the Child level, resembles a bat-like familiar and serves as a minion to higher-tier Digimon such as Devimon and Vampmon. Though not strong in attack, it is cunning and fond of tricks.

Though the four ceased their fighting, the Ultimate Digimon frowned slightly at their colorless eyes.

Finally, it tapped each of their heads with a single finger.

“Fine. Consider yourselves lucky. I’ve just needed some subordinates to do my bidding,” it said, then took two steps back and stood silently watching.

Pain flickered across the faces of the four Child-level Digimon. One by one, evolution matrices appeared beneath their feet.

Then, they all evolved.

Gazimon became Zephyrmon. SnowAgumon evolved into Snowmanmon. Impmon grew into Devimon. Beetlemon advanced to Dragomon.

Zephyrmon is a Machine-type Data Digimon at the Adult level, like Mechanical Beast, serving as a transport Digimon capable of soaring freely through the skies.

Its soft balloon-like parts are coated with a metallic protective layer, though the left side remains exposed, seemingly still under development.

Snowmanmon, an Ice-type Vaccine Digimon at the Adult level, is covered in ice and snow crystals. Despite its frigid appearance, it possesses a warm and gentle nature.

Snowmanmon dislikes combat and, among many Digimon, particularly fears Flamedramon.

Devimon, a Fallen Angel-type Virus Digimon at the Adult level, is cloaked entirely in black. Originally a radiant Angel-type Digimon, it fell into the dark, distorted regions of the Digital World and became a fallen angel.

A huge evil mark, symbolizing its fall, is emblazoned across its chest. Devimon is cunning and vicious but also possesses remarkable intelligence.

It is said that any Digimon caught in its deep crimson glowing eyes will have their minds controlled.

Dragomon, a Dragonman-type Data Digimon at the Adult level, resembles a lizardman and inhabits uncivilized regions. Its tribes are all warrior-like, brave dragon warriors.

The four Child-level Digimon, whose eyes had once seemed hollow, regained a tint of life under the influence of the Ultimate Digimon, now evolved into Adults.

Their eyes slowly regained some color.

“Master!” The four Adult Digimon knelt before the Ultimate Digimon. Zephyrmon, lacking legs, simply lowered itself to the ground, symbolically kneeling.

The Ultimate Digimon addressed them, “I allowed you to evolve to Adult level because I have a task for you.”

Devimon quickly inquired, “What does Master require of us?”

“I cannot leave this place, but I need to capture two individuals,” said the Ultimate Digimon. “Your mission is simple: find those two, and bring them back alive.”
