Chapter Ninety-Six: Morenluo Beast

From Azure Dragon Beast, a savage aura gradually erupted. One of its figures shot straight up into the highest reaches of the sky, then unleashed a thunderous crash and immediately burst apart. Its entire body turned into countless tiny motes of light.

Those motes settled upon One Beast, raising his base attributes and restoring his condition. The others that did not land on him fell to the ground and transformed into flowers and grasses. In an instant, everything here returned to the sea of blossoms it had been when One Beast had first entered.

In midair, the remaining motes drifted into One Beast’s hand and became a stone: the Proof of Andiramon.

To be honest, One Beast found all of this rather unreal. At first, he had only thought he was about to die. Even though he could always start over, he still wanted to argue with Azure Dragon Beast a little. Who would have thought that Azure Dragon Beast would be so brittle, and actually be talked to death by him?

Whether such a thing was common or not, he had no idea. Anyway, One Beast declared that in all his long life, this was the first time he had ever seen a Digimon killed outright by verbal sparring.

Truthfully, he did not know how this had happened. If he had to force out an explanation, then he felt it was because the opponent’s heart of the Way was unstable.

Andiramon had wanted to kill One Beast because One Beast had accidentally stepped on a flower, and so it had sought revenge for that single blossom. Yet during the battle, the flowers and grasses destroyed by Andiramon far outnumbered those destroyed by One Beast.

Needless to say, after it evolved into Azure Dragon Beast and unleashed Azure Thunder, how many flowers and grasses had been obliterated in that instant?

Before that, Andiramon had still been able to deceive itself, telling itself that once One Beast was dealt with, no one would come here to damage the flowers and plants anymore. But when One Beast pointed out that it had destroyed more flowers and grasses than he had, it simply could no longer bear it and destroyed itself.

One Beast did not know whether this explanation was correct. After all, it was only his own speculation. It might be right, or it might be wrong.

It was also possible that Andiramon had burned through its own lifespan, briefly transformed into Azure Dragon Beast, and intended to destroy One Beast before time ran out. But because One Beast’s words delayed it, time arrived at the end, and the Azure Dragon Beast it had become simply died there. That was not impossible either.

What the truth was, One Beast really could not say at the moment. He only hoped that after he got out, he would be able to find some answer. With that thought, he cast all of it aside and, taking Giant Dragon Beast with him, left at once.

Speaking of which, Giant Dragon Beast had truly been very fortunate. When Azure Dragon Beast’s Azure Thunder fell, it was like the end of the world. Yet Giant Dragon Beast had been so frightened that it trembled all over and dared not move, remaining where it was. And because it stayed put, not a single strike of Azure Thunder hit it.

If Giant Dragon Beast had been struck by Azure Thunder, or even brushed by its shockwave, it would probably have died on the spot. This scene made One Beast even more convinced that there might be hidden rules at work here.

After that, One Beast led Giant Dragon Beast out of Andiramon’s room and then turned to Morenra Beast’s room, next to it.

Morenra Beast was a Holy Dragon Data-Type Perfect-level Digimon whose special attack was Piercing. It was one of the Twelve Demon Digimon, representing the dragon among the twelve zodiac signs. It was also a subordinate of Azure Dragon Beast, one of the Four Holy Beast Digimon, and was skilled in calculation. If something benefited it, it would throw itself into it headlong. But if something brought it no advantage, it would not even bother to glance at it.

After One Beast and Giant Dragon Beast entered Morenra Beast’s room, they found themselves surrounded by a palace. Around the palace were piled all kinds of objects.

The room rules appeared before One Beast: within this room, Morenra Beast was in an invincible state, and ordinary attacks could not harm it. However, every treasure placed here carried a wealth value, and every point of wealth value could be converted into one point of attack power. To defeat Morenra Beast, one would need treasures of sufficient value.

The moment One Beast stepped inside, a system panel appeared before his eyes. He had not expected such a rule to exist in this room. If not for this rule, he still might have had some confidence in defeating Morenra Beast. But now...

One Beast patted Giant Dragon Beast on the shoulder and said, “Go search. Find the most valuable treasure and use it to destroy Morenra Beast.”

“So that’s why my treasury smelled of something other than money. Turns out a thief came in,” came a voice at that very moment, as Morenra Beast’s figure appeared.

Immediately, Giant Dragon Beast followed One Beast’s command and ran off. At the same time that Morenra Beast appeared, One Beast entered Burst Mode.

In Burst Mode, One Beast said to Morenra Beast, “I am not a thief.”

“You showed up in my treasury and still say you’re not a thief?” Morenra Beast roared. Then its hair, beard, and tail transformed into strings of treasure arrows, shooting straight toward One Beast.

Seeing this, One Beast’s Demon King Might instantly became a shield before him, blocking Morenra Beast’s attack. Then the shield form of Demon King Might transformed into a human shape and punched directly at Morenra Beast. Unfortunately, it did not inflict the slightest injury.

“Damn it...” One Beast had attacked Morenra Beast only to test whether it was truly invincible. And now, that suspicion had been confirmed.

“Hah, and here I thought the thief was stronger than this,” Morenra Beast laughed. Then it summoned a vortex shimmering with light, from which a torrent of arrows burst forth, stabbing toward One Beast.

This was Morenra Beast’s skill, Piercing, capable of unleashing one hundred and eight treasure arrows in a single instant.

Facing that familiar yet unfamiliar attack, One Beast once again turned Demon King Might into a defensive form, trying to withstand Morenra Beast’s assault. However, this time the attack seemed even stronger than before. The defense formed by Demon King Might lasted only a short while before cracks began to spread across its surface. Clearly, it was about to give way.

In the next instant, the treasure arrows that pierced through One Beast’s Demon King Might defense shot straight toward him, and in One Beast’s widening eyes, they came hurtling in.
